    From Babylon Bee:
NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ—After reading glowing reviews about Logos 7 Bible Software and deciding he needed to get it in order to fully immerse himself in God’s word, Pastor Richard Fields of First Baptist Church took out a second loan on his modest home to foot the bill, sources reported Friday.

“When I saw that there was a Collector’s Edition, I knew I had to have it,” Fields told reporters after the deal was done. “But at ten grand—hoo boy—I don’t have that kind of cash laying around. Tapping into my home equity was really the only way I could swing it.”

“But this software has—listen to this—‘A carefully curated theological library containing 4,822 resources,'” he read directly from the Logos website on his phone’s browser. “Seriously—are you kidding me? This thing will probably brew my coffee and cook my breakfast while I’m busy doing morning devotionals.”

The Babylon Bee is Your Trusted Source For Christian News Satire.

Does that really qualify as news?

The fictional Richard Fields would really benefit from e-Sword or The Olive Tree

Two ponts on him, IF this is a true story.

Should ahve gone in for full Accordance set, think 8-10 thousand,or put the need out to his congegation and see if one of his wealthier members got the "nudge" from God to buy it for him!
    WWJD?

That blog satire was written two years ago... Logos 8 is due out any day now

I’ve used Logos Bible Software since the late 1990’s
On their site they have a page that calculates your total purchases.
I could buy a nice automobile for the money I’ve spent over the past 20 years

I use it for daily reading, I use it to study, I use it to teach.
I haven’t read everything I own (there is much fluff in new upgrades called “classic commentaries”, just old stuff of use primarily to those in academia).

I’ve got a friend that made a big one-time purchase about two years ago.
He tends to be rather tight with the money but was willing to put down some cash for a nice deal. He thought it would do the work of study for him.

Sadly with a big program you need a screaming fast computer. Older models lag, slow up or just plain freeze with the high demands of the Bible software. He’s not willing to spend money on the hardware and spend hour-upon-hour learning the finer intricacies of the program.

Logos Bible Software may make studying easier but it still takes a lot of time and effort.

And the coffee making upgrade is still sub-optimal. ☕️

I wouldn't want it without the coffee maker. My cell phone has a built in Swiss Army knife and it gotten me out of a lot of difficult situations in the middle of nowhere, or rural Indiana.

In the old days it was just a Bible, a concordance and the Holy Spirit.

Think anything is missing these days?

Well Paul and all of the Apostles did pretty well with just the Holy Spirit and parchment!

I prefer E-sword. I use it all the time and have benefited greatly from it. I have Parsed Hebrew Interlinear and a Parsed Greek Interlinear, over 30 commentaries, around 6 different Lexicons, around 8 different dictionaries and other stuff I have forgotten, and 99 percent of it was free, I think I paid for 1 lexicon and 1 reference work.

I am amazed that Calvin and others of his ilk did so much on commentaries and bbile studies without even having a Concordance available to them!

So do I! I found it in an Office Max store about fifteen years ago. They don't make it anymore, unfortunately.

Confession: I have the Gold Package. I enjoy it on my Mac. I particularly like it on my Phone with the updated app and multiple Screens.

Oh, I have a baby introductory version that is no longer for sale. It barely installed on Windows 10. It is mostly a concordance of KJV but it does have some commentary.
