Never thought I'd see the day that so-called fiscal conservatives would come up with their own fairy tales to pay for their programs.

You see, liberals are going to pay for free single payer health care by eliminating excessive insurance forms, going to digital recodkeeping with portability of patient files, and negotiating for prescription drugs as the federal government.

Also, liberals tell us the budget will be balanced by eliminating fraud and going through the budget line by line and cutting wasteful spending.

    Remember those leftist chestnuts?

Now Trumpies are telling us the Wall will be paid for out of the trade surplus the US runs with Mexico because of a trade deal. Never mind the revenues involved are mostly going to private corporations (you know, the ones doing the trading with Mexican companies) and the US government is not really getting any revenue from private corporations doing business. Or that even if there was some way that money from private businesses trading with each other would get into the general fund that Congress would approve spending it on the Wall.

I think most liberals believe Trump meant Mexico would write
I have no idea what you're upset about. It doesn't make any sense. You're upset that Mexico isn't just writing a check? You're not happy we have a better trade deal that will defray the cost of the wall.

Everyone knew Trump was not going to get a check from Mexico. Everyone, at least everyone I knew, believed he was going to get it indirectly. Now he has, and you're upset.

None of this makes sense if you really are conservative.

    I'm not upset.

Please explain how a better trade deal will defray the costs of the Wall.

I'm not upset. I'm kind of astonished and disappointed in the level of gullibility die-hard Trump supporters will reach.

Real conservatives don't create spending plans without real revenue income streams.

Explain how a trade deal fills the US tax coffers with money.

It's self evident. The same way another income stream defrays a particular cost.

Sooo, you're pushing a conspiracy? Are you one of those saying the economy is not really good right now?

Exactly! Yet you complained that the wall is not being built first, before the trade gets balanced out. You should be cheering. Yet you're disappointed. Explain that.

What income stream will the US government get from private corporations involved in (mostly) free trade? How does the US get any money?

The economy is the best it's been in 20 years. Really, why do you accuse and deflect when you start losing an argument?

See this for my thoughts on the economy:

    Tax revenue?

And guess what that means for tax revenue!

I'm just fielding your accusation against me and conservatives. You have a beef with us. Please explain why we should be unhappy with Trump's trade deals.

Explain why you want to appropriate the money first, before securing revenue through a better trade deal with Mexico.

Tax revenues from imported goods are called tariffs. Since the object of the trade deal is to reduce the trade imbalance--decrease imports and/or increase exports--nope, no increased tax revenues here to pay for the Wall.

OK, how about getting tax revenues from corporate profits? Nope. Corporate tax rates were reduced in the latest tax bill.

Either method is wishful thinking because Congress has not appropriated the money for the Wall.

Usually means tax revenues increase. But the decrease in corporate rates needs to be overcome.

Also tax revenues can increase exponentially, doesn't matter because Congress still has to approve the money for the Wall.

I love the trade deals. My beef is the fantasy that there will magically be money to pay for the Wall. A Wall that Congress has not appropriated money to build.

    Because it is Constitutional.

There is no revenues to be secured with a trade deal with Mexico. There are no new tariffs. There is only free and fair trade. The US government doesn't get new tax dollars out of the deal.

Wow, you really don't understand this stuff. The economy is booming. Manufacturing jobs are returning at an amazing rate. Unemployment is down to historic levels.

Is this about NAFTA? Were you a NAFTA fan?

Wow. No insult meant here, but you are a fiscal liberal. You believe tax cuts lead to lower revenue. It's a myth held by liberals. Tax cuts have always lead to higher revenue from Kennedy to Reagan to Trump.

Nor did I ever say it had. I merely said Trump has created the revenue stream to pay for it, through a new trade deal with Mexico which by all implications will pass congress. Yes, he still have to get the rinos to build the wall, and they are flakey. But we will pay for it indirectly, through this trade deal.

No magic necessary. Stop listening to the MSM. Stop listening to rinos and liberals. This is very basic easy stuff.

What you're looking for is the straw man that the media set up, where Mexico cuts us a check. No one believed this apart from liberals and rinos.

Who says there will be any revenue stream? One of the provisions is that a greater percentage of parts must come from high-wage factories. So the price of autos could rise, offsetting increased revenues from income taxes. Until the deal is done, no one can score the effects. And even then there is no mechanism to tap into supposed "savings" to pay for anything.
