    Liberty U. is apparently making a movie about false prophet Mark Taylor, the "Fireman Prophet."--
    https://conciliarpost.com/theology-...-universitys-foray-into-the-trump-prophecies/

    I checked out this dude's prophecies on his website: www.SordRescue.com. Out of 23 prophecies, only 3 mention Jesus and only then in passing, prayers "in Jesus' name."

    Checking out his book on Amazon, I see that one reviewer wrote, "Stopped reading when they tried to tell me Creator won the Ky Derby which was run on a Thursday. Always run on Saturday around the first of May. Creator came in 13th."—P. K. Wagner.

    So Mark Taylor is clearly a false prophet. Why would Liberty U. be promoting him?

    My initial thought it is a way for the university to further support Trump. The election season will be gearing up soon.

    It makes sense they would do this. Daniel says 70 weeks are determined.......to seal up (end) the vision and the prophecy. According to Liberty and Dispensationalism, the 70th week remains waiting in the future, giving Pentecostals and false prophets free reign. Those who know the 70th week happened during Christ's ministry know the charismatic gifts ceased when scripture became complete.

    So, if the gifts have ceased when the the "perfect" came--Scripture--then the Scripture is now incomplete as it speaks as those gifts being necessary. So, we can start tearing out pages of Scripture?

    Scripture is perfect, is it not? The charismatic gifts ceased when the Apostles died and the canon of scripture became complete. Only an Apostle could give the gifts through the laying on of their hands.

    Scripture is perfect--but you are the one who is suggesting parts of it can be marked out. So, we have an imperfect, Perfect set of Scriptures?

    You have to prove that they have ceased--so, go ahead, teach us. :)

    This is from a larger article I thought I posted here but cannot find. But here's an excerpt.

    God placed tongues and interpretation into groups of converts in various regions through the Apostles. So each church would have God’s word spoken personally to them by individual members who received the gift. We see the laying on of hands in Jerusalem (Acts 6:6), Ephesus (Acts 19:1–7), and Samaria (Acts 8:14–17) and throughout Paul’s journeys where he gave the gifts (2 Timothy 1:6; Romans 1:11). God sent Ananias, who according to history was one of the original seventy disciples ordained by Christ, through whose hands Paul became healed and filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:17).

    That's not addressing what I'm asking. You have to prove that the "perfect" is the Bible--and that the gifts have ceased because of it. Show me through exegesis that the "perfect" that is to come is speaking in regards to the Bible.

    Many think perfection happens in the new heavens and earth. But Paul qualifies this by saying whenever it comes, faith, hope and love would remain (1 Corinthians 13:13). Faith, hope and love fits well into this present world where we need all the faith, hope and love we can get. But in the world to come we’ll have all we ever hoped for and believed in. So Paul inferred tongues would stop sometime before Christ’s return on the last day, when hope and faith find fulfillment in the new world.

    But where in the passage does " That which is perfect" = Bible? You must prove your assertion.

    I take it you do not believe God's word is perfect?

    Even so, Paul contrasts tongues, interpretation of tongues, and knowledge with love, faith and hope. If as some say, prophecy, tongues and interpretation remain until the end of the world, Paul's comparison is meaningless.

    Sir, what a terrible assertion.

    The 1 Cor. 13 passages says "When that which is perfect/complete is come..."--YOU have to prove "that which is perfect/complete" is the Bible.

    The Bible is perfect--but we are discussing what the passage in 1 Cor. 13 means, not my opinion of whether the Bible is perfect.

    Peter says scripture does a better job than tongues and prophecy. So scripture is perfect (complete) where tongues and prophecy were not.

    “For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” (2 Peter 1:17–21)

    So, break down 1 Corinthians 13--Prove Paul was speaking about the Bible. So far, you are not doing a very good job at helping us understand that Paul was making reference to the Bible.

    If that be true, then Liberty U. has sold out truth for politics.

    The closest to a definitive exegesis is found in the prologue to the book of Hebrews,

    there is a small leap of faith required :) going to Hebrews 2:3

    Hebrews 1:1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
    2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
    3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
    4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

    Hebrews 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

    "was confirmed" indicates the completeness of what Jesus SAID and His apostle CONFIRMED with their words. If it "was confirmed" in the past with abiding results then no later confirmation (words, signs, wonders) are needed anymore.

    I found my original post if you are interested.

    Speaking in Tongues a Cessationists’ View

    Notice, you must also prove the gifts came in another way than through the hands of an apostle. You cannot progress any further unless you do.

    If scripture is God's word, and he doesn't think it is perfect, how can you take it otherwise?
