This is in the news with Brett Kavanaugh. He denies, and the woman looks to be a very unreliable witness. I tend to believe the story is not true. If it were, it would have come out earlier.

But the irony is, I would still support him, even if he groped a woman as a teenager. The idea that a man's life is disqualified for something he did drunk as a teen is just amazing to me.

Where did this thinking come from? Surely most Christians understand the foolishness of such an idea? Or do they.

If the canidate for any political office needs to be morally perfect, only ONE can qualify, and he already has been installed in highest office in all of creation!
And she stated that he kissed her and touched her and tried to getclothes off her, but was stiopped while doing that!

That depends on whether you live by a double standard or not.

Didn't Paul and David do worse? We seem to have an obsession with past sins, even going back to teenage years, even looking at the testimonies of very shaky witnesses.

I don't have a double standard on sin. I just don't like the idea of youthful sins being brought to light some 35 years laters to disqualify a person. Do you?

This is just cheap shot payback. Judge Kavanaugh's mother ruled against the accuser's parents in a foreclosure case (Judge Kananaugh's mother was also a judge). Ford's (the accuser) parents eventually reached an out of court settlement and the property was not foreclosed but the bad feelings have continued. Christine Blasey-Ford is seeking revenge against the Kavanaugh family. She is a radical left wing activist, registered Democrat who has made financial contributions to the Democrat party and Democrat candidates. She is professor of clinical psychology at Palo Alto University in California.

I agree, that's all likely true. But the bigger question, what if the story is true? Is Kavanaugh really unfit to serve the the SC because of this reported act as a teen?

No. We all did things as teens that we would rather not be publicly known. I certainly did. But we have a God who forgives.

We may never know for sure.

But even that leaves a dark cloud hanging and that is exactly what is wanted by the "progressives".

How is doing something like this as a teenager a dark cloud? That's the befuddling, bewildering, dumbfounding part for me.

The double standard is that there are those who can overlook certain behaviors and continue to elect individuals who have these unseemly behaviors in their past but are judgemental about others like kavanaugh.
Deeds with young ladies in the WH/Oval office ring a bell?

That depends on what is is.

    It is.

There are some/many who are sensitive to these things.

Adult rape vs. teenage drunken advances. Seems way beyond double standard.

When I was in CID, I worked quite a few "rapes" that were not rapes until Daddy found out.

Almost everyone, including many critics of Kavanaugh, point out that the issue is not an action 35 years ago as much as it is that if he did it, then the candidate has spoken with Senators over the phone and lied about the event to the people who are evaluating his fitness for the Supreme Court. Is a Supreme Court Justice who lies to Congress a serious issue?

The alleged incident is 35 years old, uncorroborated, disclosure is suspiciously timed, and politically motivated. It reeks of falsehood.

If what this woman is saying is true, I have a problem with it disqualifying him for SCOTUS. It's a dumb thing a buzzed teenager did, but should not keep him from serving.

However, if it's true, I do have a problem with him lying about it.

Seems like that would be the very first bit of corroborating evidence: someone not involved who remembered that he was there. But all we have right now is "He said, she said."

And what's with that thing about giving a letter about the alleged incident to the FBI? Even if a crime occurred, (1) it would be local and not federal; (2) it was just a letter, not evidence; (3) any statute of limitations would be long over. Grandstanding!
