Pretty much the same here in Maine, though sometimes with a messiah complex - "I'll fix the mess in Washington." (Or Augusta, depending on which race is referenced.) The 2nd District race drew eight-figure spending 2 years ago and is on the way to exceed that by election day - 1st District demographics are solidly blue. The governor's race is partially a plebiscite on the outgoing governor, a rough-cut version of Trump. And the obnoxious political ads are driving the regular commercials into hiding.

    I'll pass, thank you.

I have enough problems to concentrate on fixing here at home without looking to fix other nation's problems.

Palestinians should stop shooting rockets and mortars at Israel.
    Israel should stop bombing Palestine.
Egypt and Saudi Arabia should open their borders so peaceful Palestinian Arabs can work and trade with other peaceful Arab nations.

With respect to Israel and Palestine ... "Good fences make good neighbors" ... but it is their fence to build and not cross, not ours.

We need to stop Drug Smugglers and Human Traffickers from crossing the US-Mexican Border with impunity. That is our issue to deal with. The US and Mexico need to stop the flow of guns, drugs and money to the Cartels to make life better for the people both North and South of that border.

I have a right to share how I vote or not to share how I vote.

No one has the right to tell me how I voted and why. The "nobody's business" remark was in response to an effort to turn an appeal to logic and fact into a personal attack on me.

I am not a Democrat. I lean towards true Libertarian (minimal government interference in all things). I object to the greed and excess and rampant corruption in the Republican Party. I am appalled by the immorality that has become the platform of the modern Democratic Party (and long for a return to a true Southern Democrat). I am weary of the sound byte politics that avoids all real issues and elects demagogues based on divisive 'non-issues'.

Most of all, I resent the implication that my Savior is either a Democrat or a Republican and that the 'Christianity' of anyone can be judged according to affiliation with either corrupt, worldly political machine.

So I push back on a topic that pretends to ask "Why vote Democrat?" but is really a "No true Scotsman" argument claiming that any 'real Christian' would vote Republican ... no matter what!

    ****

Here is an opportunity to convince me that I am completely wrong.
The CORNERSTONE of the Republican Party (what they both claim and actually do) is:
    1. Reduce Capital Gains Tax
    2. Make Taxes less progressive (lower the top rate and reduce welfare)
    3. Reduce regulation on Business
Show me where any of these cornerstones of the Republican Party are mandated or supported in scripture and you will convince me that a 'true Christian' will vote Republican because Republicans are doing God's business.

From over the Atlantic, both parties seem totally unsuited for government - are there no realistic alternative parties? Parties that have a concern for people, rather than politics & increased riches for the rich, & no concern for the poor?

From over the Atlantic things don’t look that special to us when we see what’s playing out over there, that’s why we love our President. We don’t love the party, we love the man who’s showing the party how to lead us from the dark precipice of the New World Order.

We love Tommy Robinson too, who we see getting predictably vilified.
Thanks for your words of advice though, the touchy/feely is a dead giveaway that we ‘need’ progressivism/socialism/communism. It moves ‘forward’ (the slogan of European Marxists, which was then incorporated into the Obama campaign in ‘08) in that order. Where is your country at right now in your opinion?

Your observation seems rather strange coming from someone in a country still saddled by the European Union and ever shrinking rights with Islam and socialism vying for the privilege of completely destroying you. How far back does your stated vision of us go?

Of course there is approximately 60% of the country that can’t stand Trump and would like to see him get lost so don’t believe all the crap ya read from trumpeters. Nor do we give a flying fart about Tommy Robinson or any domestic problems you’re having. We have our hands full with this voted in atavism.

Apparently not although there is a move away from both established political parties and hopefully they will be reduced in size ( to where they diminished in both political power and credibility.)

"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) disapprove."

And 80% of people here don’t care who you don’t trust. If you can just make stuff up, I’ll do the same.

Mr. Gillum will kill the golden goose that is Florida. He will add more taxes that will deter businesses from coming here; he will most likely add an income tax on people's wages; he will most likely make the whole state a haven for illegals. (He is already on record not wanting to work with ICE). The guy is a dangerous leftist who will not be good for Florida in any way. I proudly voted against him.

Governor Scott is a good leader whose policies has brought many businesses to the state. I drive up and down the highways and see new business construction all the time. I was also very impressed with the way he has handled the natural disasters that have happened in the last few years. Senator Nelson on the other hand has been in Washington way too long and it 's time he comes home to Florida for a well deserved retirement.

While I, too, did not support Gillum because of his policy positions and past performance ... I have reached the point in my life where it is no longer enough to be proud to vote AGAINST someone; I want to be proud to have voted FOR someone as well. Fortunately, DeSantis appears to be a candidate that one can be proud to vote for.

While I cannot strongly disagree with anything you said about Scott, his policies as Governor directly harmed my family. It is a simple reality that some conservatives have children in school and his reduced funding to local schools directly and adversely impacted my daughter. It is a simple reality that some conservatives have family members that suffer with chronic pain who were adversely impacted by his drug policy that has made alternative pain killers unavailable to my wife who suffers from the double curse of a degenerative spinal condition and an allergy to the entire morphine family of pain killers.

If I owned one of those large businesses that are doing better than ever under Scott, I might be inclined to vote for him in spite of the harm he has done because it was the greater good for my family. I do not own a business. For me and my house, education and health care come higher on the priority list than tax cuts for businesses. So I voted to send Nelson back to Washington and Scott home to his family where he can do no more harm to my family.

Hillary Clinton on Friday, talking about two black democrats, corrected the interviewer, ‘That was Eric Holder, I know they all look alike.’
Yuck, yuck, Hillary, if Trump said it, no matter the context you would have heard about it 24/7, with calls for resignation. Did anyone hear about it?
During this interview she said she would like to be President, but was waiting to see what happens in the mids. She isn’t trusting polls anymore I guess.

They also said in 2016 that Trump would loose.
