I used to like Ed Young but I don't understand why he broke off from the SBC.

Question: Isn't the Baptist General Convention of Texas also associated with the SBC?

Did you used to like me before I broke off from the SBC?

I still like Ed Young but I don't undetstand what they are doing in Texas. I don't know what denomination that you belong to. A lot of people think the SBC is too big for their britches. They squander a lot of money in the ERLC and Dr. Land does not agree with YEC but then 99% of Christians are old earth and have been for millions of years. No, all I am saying is that I myself do not understand what happened in Texas.

I imagine most of the SBC is. Recently, a Catholic who thinks that there is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church by the name of Matt Walsh made an unprovoked attack on the theology of Answers in Genesis. Ken Ham invited him to the Ark Encounter with free lodging and meals but Walsh apparently declined.

OK, you would know better than I so tell me what is your estimate of the percentage when we know that Dr. Land and Dr. Geisler, for examples, have believed in an old earth for millions and millions of years.

I would say I’m Baptist, but no longer Southern Baptist. I cannot support the direction of the current leadership, & the ERLC. There has been no real resistance to the social justice mantra, or the way they summarily dismissed & trashed the old guard. Who trashes people in a Christian organization? The left. It’s what they do, & who they are. It’s their road to power.
It sickens me actually that many members are supporting this new agenda, but would not agree with it, were they to know what their tithes are supporting. I wonder if members of the church of the new SBC president have come to terms with being Southern Baptists, as they didn’t know they were affiliated, they were just getting financed for all their missionaries by their fairy godmother I guess. Maybe they thought they were doing it on their own, until their pastor had to fess up that he might be the new president of the SBC & point out to them all the good tidings that have come their way with missionary money from the SBC.
It’s like unions taking your dues & strongly supporting candidates who you do not support.
When the pastor in my church gave his message of support for all things going on & piled on about Patterson, I’m done. I’m not waiting for what comes next when the left is in charge, I already know & it won’t be good. The good people in my church probably think I’ve lost my way because I haven’t gone back or shared my thoughts about this with them. I’m not looking to divide, there is always enough of that going on at church.

We decided to designate our giving to in state only. There is a group of us that has organized but someone acted in a way unbecoming and it has had some problems as a result.
