History says he slapped Arius the heretic at the Council of Nicea.

You should shop at Target, just don't buy there. While there, you can go around saying "Merry Christmas!" to all the other folk.

Or legend says he slapped Arius. Documentation of the story really dates to medieval times and there is precious little to prove it actually happened. It may be, like the stories of providing dowries for three women or saving three young men from execution (three is the operative number here, mirroring the Trinity), pius tales with slender historical support, a religious version of Parson Weems' stories about Washington, perhaps.

People might think that I had a lot of noney if I went into the high-priced Target. But you are right that they don't like Christmas at Target.

    Next question:

if the Catholic school principal dressed as the *real* St. Nicholas (miter and staff, etc.) and "visited the children to pass out chocolate coins and remind them of the importance of defending the Trinity," which is probably a noble gesture ---

What should we make of *Baptist* pastors who feel it necessary (or are bullied into it) to dress up like the secular department-store type Santa (pillow stuffed belly usually not necessary) and pass out goodies to the kids in the fellowship hall of their church?

I know ... I have seen it with my own eyes ...

Our association supports a missionary in South America -
When our DOM goes down there the kids call him Santa Clause
because with his white beard and appropriate tummy - he looks like Santa.

    "Santa Must Be Polish"

    Merry Christmas
    Merry Christmas
    Merry Christmas to you
Santa must be Polish he's jolly as can be,
Riding on his sleigh with gifts for you and me.
Santa Must Be Polish all dressed in red and white,
Slipping down the chimney, while you're asleep at night.

    Wesolych Swiat Bozego Narodzenia
Means happy holidays to everyone of you
    Wesolych Swiat Bozego Narodzenia
He brings joy and cheer to everyone each year

Santa must be Polish, he's such a merry man,
Bringing lots of toys to everyone he can.
One thing he's demanding and he wants it understood,
He'll only bring you presents if you've been very good

    Wesolych Swiat Bozego Narodzenia
Means happy holidays to everyone of you
    Wesolych Swiat Bozego Narodzenia
He brings joy and cheer to everyone each year
