    Good afternoon.

My religious journey is very complicated. I haven't been to church regularly in about four three years.

I'm in my late 30's and I was raised in one faith, joined another, and left that one too. I've been going to a Baptist church for a little over a month now. I sit in the back, don't participate much and remain very quiet. The people are wonderful and extremely friendly. The pastors (it's a big church with one main pastor and several other pastors) are also fantastic.

However, I'm nervous to talk in depth to anyone about my faith journey. I'm afraid they'll ask me to stop going or question my sincerity. I don't blame them of course- my religious journey does sound a bit crazy-but do you think they'll let me continue attending their church fi they find out I've been a member of two other ones?

    Thank you for the help.

Of course they will allow you to continue to attend. Generally speaking, Baptists love people visiting their church.

Thanks. It's a little awkward to go in depth about my faith journey and I never know how someone might react.

Welcome, and the Baptist Church would love to see you continue and to grow as they study the Bible, and have worship and praise...
And remember that being a Christian can take many different roads, but those roads all will end at the foot of the Cross, and when one believes in the Lord Jesus to save them from their sins!

I don't think you have to worry about your past religious life. One of the deacons in our church is an ex-Sikh and we have two ladies who are ex- Roman catholic. Until I was around your age, I knew nothing about any church except High Church Anglican ones
I would advise you to be very open about your past, and if the church makes a issue about it, then it is not a church worth attending.

And, we have a slew of ex-evangelicals in our standing room only Catholic Church. I do agree with your advise to be open and I would add to STUDY! Reading Currie's "Born Fundamentalist, Born Again Catholic' and removing the Baptist lenses from my glasses in bible study along with many other apologists led to where I worship.

Hello Walter! How nice to speak to you again. I will only say that the traffic is two-way. I'm sure you also know that there are several ex-Romanists on this very board.

Agreed! I wasn't aware you had an Anglo-Catholic background. Several 'nose-bleed' high ACNA churches attended by my family in the Los Angeles basin. Nice to speak with you again, Martin.
