Fasting, when done with a pure heart, will draw you closer to Christ and surely will help you enter His presence. May I please hear your testimony?

Drawing near to Him does involve denying yourself, so yes, I think fasting is a good place to start.
    It works for me.:)

What do you want to know?

My mom raised me in a southern baptist church and I got baptized when I was 8/9 after I had accepted Jesus into my heart on a church camp. Then I was always spending my time at church with my mom and friends. My mom became unwell when I was 12 and I went to live in Arizona with my father who was a Mormon and he took me with him to LDS church and I started to believe the things they taught and eventhough I never became a member I did believe in salvation through works. I ended up being really confused and it wasn't until I was 17 when I was attending a seminary that I understood that salvation is only through Christ and I came to know the real Christ again. So I had a second baptism to mark this. Since I have tried to be a good Christian and to walk closely with God.

    Cavell,
I'd say that while you were among the Mormons, you became carried about with a "wind of doctrine" ( Ephesians 4:11-16 ), which believers are susceptible to. You didn't come to know him again, you were corrected and were re-established in your mind about your Saviour, who you had believed on at the age of 8.

In my opinion, you didn't need a second baptism, because Christ's sheep cannot be lost ( John 5:24, John 6:37-40, John 10:28-29 ). ;)

Keep seeking Him and read His word every day.:)

I know I didn't need a baptism but I wanted to show and mark the occasion.

I understand...and I've seen many people get re-baptized for various reasons.
But one Scriptural baptism to identify with Christ is all that He commands. :)

Yeah it can just be a spiritual marker that you are returning to the church after an absence. My baby has had a infant baptism but I hope he will have a believers baptism one day and he won't feel the need to have another baptism after that.

You may not find a “southern” baptist, but are there no Baptist churches in your area?

Perhaps a church that holds to the basic teaching of the Baptist, yet is not labeled as such?

Pray for discernment and find fellowship of at least one other believer until you can locate an assembly.

Working through and in the local assembly, and that personal accountability believers hold each upon each other is vital to not only the walk, but the relationship of the individual believer to Christ.

“Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it,” is a statement which gives the believer the imperative to join and be involved in that local assembly..

There are British men on the forum that may be of assistance in recommending a place.

You might start a thread And title it, “Where is a good church in England, near me.”Doing so will no doubt get their attention.

I would love to find a church but it is tricky convincing my wife to look for one with me as she is very happy attending a Methodist church. I love to spend my Sunday with her and our son but it means I can't go to a baptist church.

I was reading about a pastor who fasted 16 days until he felt the spirit. Do you think that is a good thing to fast until you feel the spirit?

I would not put a time on a fast.

So I should fast until I feel like I should stop? Instead of planning how long at the start?
