Great topic. Generally, I argue that since God is just, He would not send those who are not old enough to understand the Gospel to Hell. The child that Bathsheba bore after her adulterous affair with King David died (2 Samuel 12:18). The following verses tell us that David's servants were surprised when he stops mourning. In verse 23, David says "I will go to him, but he will not return to me."
If we cross reference Psalm 16:10-22 and Hebrews 11:32-33, we can safely assume that David did go to Heaven.
Finally, Isaiah 7:15 speaks of an age when children know good from evil. A just God would bring those who have not attained this knowledge to Himself.

In all my over fifty years in the Old Line Primitive Baptist Church I have NEVER heard a preacher say any baby is going to hell... But I have a question if a person is saved by the Gospel call, how does a baby answer?... Never forget the baby has a Savior too!... Well I didn't participate in the last one but here is my answer... Brother Glen:)

Romans 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

9:12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

9:14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

Btw... Kentucky you have opened a can of worms!

@The Biblicist you've been participating in the 'spiritual death' threads, consider this thread a continuation of the same.
(your moniker wouldn't link up on the earlier post)

It is appointed men once to die and then the Judgment. The wages of sin is death.

IMHO an infant experiences the "wages of sin" (the curse) and then the Judgment. I do not see an infant as "guilty" in this regard.

Well Kentucky since you opened this can of worms I'm going to dive right in... In the book of Timothy, Paul says this

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

We seem to skate around the s word when talking about babies, but to my understanding they are the elect of God by Gods mercy... ALL of us need a Savior and a baby does too and that is as delicate as I can put it... Brother Glen:)

This may seem like a silly question, but I never let THAT stop me. According to the Doctrine of Election, are some babies destined for Heaven and others destined for Hell? If we are saved only by God's "works", how does this all fit together?

Yes, the issue was 'skirted' on all the recent 'Spiritual Death' threads and it seems still being skirted by the hardcore Calvinists. One 'yes' vote so far with no explanation.

Perhaps they'll own it and expound later.

IMO, a child is born sinful but not accountable until the age of reason, which my mother thought was no later than the age of twelve when Jesus went to the Temple. So, I voted yes that we are born lost in sin and bound for hell although God exempts us until we each reach the age of reason after which we are without excuse.
