Yes I do accept this passage as literal especially when looking at the Hebrew text.

Also I have always admitted to the metaphorical in the scripture but have also stated the need of discernment to tell which is being used or even a mixture.

The coming/suffering of the Messiah - literal, Isaiah 53, etc.
Zechariah 14 the Second Coming also literal

You are saying the Micah passage is literal? I don't think you meant that.

You may call treating those two very similar passages (Micah 1 and Zech 14) by different standards "discernment" but to me it is a clear case of inconsistency.

Yes its literal - When the Lord Himself come out of His Place, then yes the earth and mountains will melt and valleys rent as the Hebrew text indicates.

But this already happened. Israel is not going to be punished for their persistent worship in high places. And there is no longer a Samaria. There are many other incongruities but just read the context yourself.

No, those valleys have long since been split and mountains long since melted.

And, in the same vein, the Mount of Olives has long since been split.

Granted but still it is/was literal.

That remains to be seen. I believe Jesus has yet to keep His promise literally as I see literalness. You believe otherwise.

    But we both believe scripture.

OK, friend, if you really believe what you wrote there is nothing else I can say.

If it will even matter then,

The end of the age hasn't happened for sure because the literal bodily return of Jesus hasn't yet happened.

Well, actually, 'Samaria' became a term for the ten-tribed northern nation of Israel after God broke the Jews off from it. And there's a fault line running under the Mt. of Olives that has not been widened in the history of man. I believe it's awaiting "the foot".

Isaiah 66:8 Who has ever heard of such a thing? Who has ever seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children.

Rev 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
No one ever wrote that they did see HIM.

You can read about the birth of this holy nation in Acts 2.

yes but we are still citizens thereof.

and ALSO we mustn't forget that there are 2 distinct groups under the Abrahamic Covenant.

    Israel, Goyim

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

As Christ did we occupy both heaven and earth.

In summary for this thread, there are some truths here:

1.) Satan is NOT yet crushed. The prevalence of sin worldwide proves this beyond a doubt. All other arguments that satan is crushed automatically fail in face of all this sin.

2.) God is NOT through with literal Israel. He said He's gonna make Israel & Judah one nation again. And remember, the foundation of the New J will have the names of the 12 tribes written upon it.

3.) Preterism remains without proof & thus remains false.
