Is heaven really to be our home ?

Jesus is coming back here to be KING Jesus of the whole planet Earth (Zechariah 14:9) ----- the redeemed will reign with Christ ON THE EARTH (Rev 5:10).

Jesus is to be given the throne of His father (ancestor) David (Luke 1:32,33), here on Earth; and whoever overcomes will sit with Jesus on His throne.

"And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him"

    --- Daniel 7:27

The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

    Rev 11:15

I would probably prefer this universe to Heaven.

First of all, this earth, as we know it, will not exist at the end of the Millennial Kingdom.

And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (2 Peter 3:4-7)

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up . (2 Peter 3:10)

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away ; and there was no more sea. (Revelation 21:1)

    billwald--
Why would you prefer this universe to Heaven? As the above verses state--this old earth will pass away.

What Will Not Be in Heaven.

    1. No More Sea (Re 21:1)
    2. No More Separation (Re 21:4)
    3. No More Sorrow (Re 21:4)
    4. No More Sickness and Suffering (Re 21:4)
    5. No More Sanctuary (Re 21:22)
    6. No More Shadows (Re 21:22; 22:5)
    7. No More Sin (Re 21:8,27,27; 22:3,15). Nothing that "defileth" will enter there, only those whose names are written in the "Lamb's book of life."

    Way of Life Encyclopedia

Don't know about anybody else, but I am looking forward to Heaven---this world is NOT my home, I'm just a passin' through!!

Heaven is not a "place". It is a state of being. When we die, we go to be with the Lord. That's Heaven.

Don't overanalyze it. Just accept it.

    </font>
Revelation 3:12 He that overcometh, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out thence no more: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven, and mine own new name.

Revelation 21:2-3 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven of God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God:

The 'place' Jesus is preparing is the 'new Jerusalem' which shall be upon a new earth along with a new heaven. God will inhabit the new Jerusalem along with His saints.

I would suggest an excellent book by Dr. Randy Alcorn titled "Heaven".

Jesus goes "away" to His Father's house and there prepares a place for us. Then He comes "Again" and "RECEIVES" us up to HIM taking us back to heaven - to His Father's house - "That WHERE He is THERE we may be also".

"Just accept it" - is probably a good idea as someone has said here.

But after the millenium that New Jerusalem comes down to Earth - The New Heavens and New Earth are then created and this is where the saints spend eternity - on the New Earth and in the New Jerusalem which is all right here on the New Earth.

That is why in Romans 4 we are told that the saints are given the promise of "The World" as their inheritance.

That is why in Heb 11 we see that even Enoch who went to heaven without dying has not yet "received what was promised" because ultimately the human race is promised its own planet taken back from Satan and given to back to us.

    In Christ,

    Bob

    Hi Linda64,

What about at the BEGINNING. When Jesus comes BACK to be with us on this Earth, the Law shall go forth from JERUSALEM.

Jerusalem will be the world capital and Jesus will be KING over all the Earth (Zechariah 14:9).

    Hi Bob Ryan,

YES! But where is Jesus going to be ?

Jesus will be KING over all the Earth (Zechariah 14:9).

Jesus and the Redeemed will REIGN ON THE EARTH - Rev. 5:10.

Humans will not learn war any more (ISAIAH and MICAH).

This earth is going nowhere. Earth as we know it will be gone, but for God to totally wipe out the planet and create a new one would be an admittance that His creation was not "good" as He claimed in Genesis. New Jerusalem, New Earth does not mean wipe out the old, bring in the new, but rather a renewall of God's creation.

    Hi webdog

Earth is where the problems are, and here they will be solved. JESUS WILL BE KING OVER ALL THE EARTH (ZECH 14:9), and the world will learn His ways and live in peace for 1000 years.

Genile nations will send representative to Jerusalem to keep the FEAST OF TABERNACLES (ZECHARIAH 14:16-19).

They will come to JERUSALEM to worship THE KING, THE LORD OF HOSTS (ZECHARIAH 14:17).

Where will JESUS BE --- IN JERUSALEM.

Jesus will touch down on the MOUNT OF OLIVES - Zechariah 14:4 and Acts 1: 11-12.

"His feet shall stand that day upon the MOUNT OF OLIVES' (Zech. 14:4).

All those who met Christ in the air, in the clouds (1Thess.4:17), will Christ bring with HIM (Zechariah 14:5), and we shall be forever with the LORD.

    </font>
You may have misunderstood what I was saying. I only meant that after the MK, "New Heaven" will remain...the sinfulness of the earth as we know it will not remain.

    Hi webdog,

Yes, I thought you meant the Earth would disappear.

You are quite right when you say sinfulness will not remain:

    ISAIAH 11 ---

5He will put godliness on as if it were his belt. He'll wear faithfulness around his waist.

    6Wolves will live with lambs.
Leopards will lie down with goats.
Calves and lions will eat together.
And little children will lead them around.

    7Cows will eat with bears.
Their little ones will lie down together.
And lions will eat straw like oxen.

8A baby will play near a hole where cobras live. A young child will put his hand into a nest where poisonous snakes live.

9None of those animals will harm or destroy anything or anyone on my holy mountain of Zion.
The oceans are full of water.
In the same way, the earth will be filled
with the knowledge of the Lord.

That IS the Millennium --- Christ ruling on Earth.

The Apostles were waiting for Jesus to return to set up His GOVERNMENT IN JERUSALEM.

The Apostles were not waiting to be wisked off to Heaven.

    MILLENNIUM:
    Wolves will live with lambs.
Leopards will lie down with goats.
Calves and lions will eat together.
And little children will lead them around.

Christ "goes to prepare a place for us" in His FAther's house.

Therer is in fact an "inheritance reserved IN HEAVEN for you".

When He comes again instead of simply landing and greeting - He raptures up the church saints from all ages UP in the air to be with Him in that place He has gone to prepare for us.

To receive the inheritance reserved "in heaven" for us.

But I also admit that the texts you provide here do show the saints will one day be on earth again - and Christ with them - in the new Earth for all of eternity.

This is the ultimate promise - that the saints would inherit the earth. We see it in Daniel 7 and in Matt 5.
