    My Three Favorite Presbyterians...

    1. Thomas Nelson - Who would go on to print many bibles
    2. Bob Childress - Who would spread revival through Virginia and would build many stone churches - Stone Churches of rev Bob Childress
    3. John Geddie - Who, like Bob Childress, would evangelize an area. The tribute to John Geddie reads, "When I came to this land there was no man of litcht here, but when I left this land there was no man of darkness in it." -Dr. John Geddie “When he landed in 1848 there were no Christians here, and when he left in 1872 there were no heathen." - Tribute to Dr. John Geddie

I have also did a video tribute to John Geddie....

I think that Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans were Presbyterians.

Stonewall was devout, but a bit lacking in a couple theological areas.

    Sort of:

Google Books • Dale by Dale Evans

"Sometimes people ask about the various churches we've belonged to. 'What is your church, anyway?' they want to know. I tell them, 'I am a Baptist, Episcopalian, Methodist, Disciple of Christ, and Presbyterian! I don't think of the church as a building or as a denomination. As long as the church fellowship has the seal of the Cross, I'm completely at home there.'"

From their obituaries, they do seem to have ended up at a PC-USA church.

'The Bible Tells Me So', written by Dale Evans:

"Now be real good to your enemies • and the Blessed Lord you'll surely please
How do I know • the Bible tells me so

Don't worry 'bout tomorrow • Just be real good today
The Lord is right beside you • He'll guide you all the way

You must have faith, hope and charity • That's the way to live successfully
How do I know • the Bible tells me so"

    Amen.

    thank you, Salty.

That is a church ( if you could call it that ) that just went down the tubes.

Interesting that every one of the denominations she mentioned except Baptist (DoC, PCUSA, UMC, TEC) no longer upholds any sense of biblical orthodoxy. The only reason the UMC did not decide to allow the ordination of SS partnered people is because of the votes of bible believing African delegates. The US delegates favored ordaining them.

Yeah, Fred Rogers has to take the top spot.

I'm surprised nobody's said Billy Sunday yet.

IMHO, it went down the tubes long before the General Assembly of PCUSA voted to ordain partnered LBGTQXYZ people. Seminaries deemed acceptable for educating their candidates for ordination include Yale Divinity, Harvard Divinity, Union Theological Divinity School all of which teach universAlison and that the bible is full of myths and not relevant to our modern world. Fuller is probably the only seminary that 'might' be acceptable to a PCUSA congregation. Fuller provides us with such gems as Rob Bell. PCUSA now is in full communion with the likes of ELCA, UCC, UMC, Christian (Dutch) Reformed Church, and Disciples of Christ. That tells me all I need to know about PCUSA.

Only older people like me will remember Peter Marshall, one of the greatest preachers of his time or any time.

Another one that Baptist love to hate is Donald Grey Barnhouse, author and radio preacher.

A good systematic theologian is J. Oliver Buswell, not remembered anymore.
