Impeachment is now the only play the Left has
    By Steve Grammatico

"I have had it up to here with the Democratic Party, now investing all its energy in destroying Donald Trump even if it means doing irreparable harm to the country and the presidency. And it's about to get worse.

Color me unsurprised. Schumer, Pelosi, their congressional cohorts, their peevish billionaire backers, their unserious presidential aspirants, their angry base, their media sycophants, and their Deep State allies — none of them gives a fig about the damage their cause is doing to America's tradition of constitutional governance. It's about power, not principle.

Plenty of ordinary people who inhabit the Left's echo chamber believe they're on the side of the angels. You know them — the cousins, siblings, friends who refuse to entertain any information that contradicts their beliefs. The Progressives' pawns. In their millions, they're about to be enlisted in the Democrats' last-ditch attempt to nullify Trump's election.

Mueller was probably told by Barr to wrap it up and stuck his finger in the A.G.'s eye by devoting half the report to obstruction porn. They'll deny it, but House committee chairs Schiff, Nadler, and Cummings are now prepping the ground for impeachment hearings. Every Dem in the House, including the "moderates," will vote to impeach because they live in Nancy's world. Against conventional wisdom, it will happen sooner rather than later. Why?

As Mueller and collusion recede, as the economy keeps chugging along, Trump's numbers are likely to tick up. He must be stopped before he reverses the progressive train wreck the left plans for the rest of us. Impeachment — not conviction, which is not going to happen — might constrain Trump from pursuing his agenda and perhaps render him unelectable in 2020. Consider:

    • The instant the president is impeached, he will be proclaimed tainted and unworthy of holding the office. Hillary's charge that he is an illegitimate president will become the new narrative, the inescapable truth.
    • Deathly afraid of Ruth Bader Ginsberg's passing, Schumer will declare that an impeached president has no business making appointments to the Supreme Court. Thousands of left-leaning lawyers and academics will sign petitions. The news will be about nothing else. In this climate, McConnell might be unable to herd all his cats and get a Supreme Court nominee through.
    • On immigration, trade, Iran, Venezuela, and a host of other matters, squishy Republicans in the House and Senate will determine that Trump is weakened and desert him to bask in the praise of Colbert, Schiff, and the New York Times for abandoning partisanship for the good of the country. (Barf.) I'm thinking of you, Senator Romney.
    • Impeachment in the near future obliterates coverage of the DOJ's I.G. report, the Huber inquiry, and anything Bull Durham has come up with since he began his investigation. Smoking guns? Brennan, Clapper, Comey indicted? Who cares? Section B, page 13, maybe. Trump's impeachment is the only story.
Loyal opposition, my butt. The Left and its enablers are disloyal opportunists messing with the greatest document — aside from the Bible — in human history: the Constitution of the United States. And more's the pity: millions of Americans who love this country and its institutions stand with the people who are trying to shred it. These I don't forgive for they know not what they do, because they've chosen ignorance.

With Mueller done and hell about to descend on the Deep State, Pelosi must pull the trigger on impeachment. That's all the Dems have. And, not being entirely convinced about the wisdom of the American electorate, it may be enough."

What was it Shrillary said when she thought her ascension was in the bag? “He became the first person, Republican or Democrat, who refused to say that he would respect the results of the election. Now, that is a direct threat to our democracy.” “It’s horrifying”
Then after she conceded.....we had to have recounts in Wisconsin & Michigan, with no joy for them. Hillary was bringing up Russian meddling during the debates & I remember thinking....’what the frick is she talking about’? Now we know, plan B, the insurance plan, was already in the works. No dim candidate has a chance with no real platform that real people want anything to do with, so this is all they’ve got. They’re gonna ride that pony, but I think Trump has aces full with everything he can release for the viewing pleasure of the country. I believe he will definitely win in 20.
The other alternative they have, the ‘a’ word, is also something they’re not against doing, which is really horrifying. Stay vigilant, stay armed. It could get ugly. They don’t care because they must win to appease the globalist cabal who holds their future in their hands. It is time to take all power, as in recovering the House, from the hands of globalists. They do not love us, they love power over us. Stay strong. What is occuring right now is a coup. It must be put down if we are to survive as a nation.

I hope, but, the last sentence of the OP article has me nailed: "not being entirely convinced about the wisdom of the American electorate".

Elections are all about government of the electorate, by the electorate, for the electorate. Unless they're lied to and deceived the majority gets what it wants. I've little confidence that a moral majority exists anymore.

Pelosi Schedules Emergency Meeting With House Dems to Discuss Impeachment

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has called an emergency meeting with Democrats Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. to discuss their demands for impeachment proceedings against President Trump, per Fox News.

    Bret Baier on Twitter

"The pressure is actually real," as Dana Perino noted.

Pelosi just had a closed door meeting with members of Congress in which she reiterated that now is not the time to consider impeachment - it's time for them to turn to other issues. You know, issues that got them voted in in the first place.

Still, she faced push back from her own leadership team and from some of the more progressive lawmakers.

    POLITICO on Twitter

At tomorrow's meeting, will she stand her ground or succumb to peer pressure?

This divisive debate appears to have been renewed after Rep. Justin Amash (MI) became the first Republican lawmaker to call for Trump's impeachment over the weekend."

House Judiciary Chair Nadler Subpoenas Hope Hicks

"...Hicks, along with other members of the president’s circle, have been given until June 4 to submit all requested documents. She is expected to testify before House Judiciary lawmakers on June 19. The panel has also issued a subpoena for Annie Donaldson, a former aide in the White House counsel’s office, for documents and a private deposition for June 24.

Donaldson was a top aide to former White House Counsel Donald McGahn, who on Tuesday defied a subpoena from the committee to testify. President Trump had directed McGahn not to appear.

The redacted version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report documented alarming misconduct and obstruction of justice by President Trump. Donaldson and Hicks were critical witnesses to this behavior,” a statement via the committee reads.

The subpoenas come as Democrats debate how to respond to Trump’s declaration that he will fight “all of the subpoenas” from Congress.
More Democrats are calling for impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump after he blocked McGahn from testifying.

A growing number of rank-and-file House Democrats, incensed by McGahn’s empty chair in the hearing room, are pushing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other leaders to act. Their impatience is running up against the speaker’s preference for a more methodical approach, including already-unfolding court battles.

Pelosi has summoned them to a meeting Wednesday to assess strategy.

Some other Democratic leaders, while backing Pelosi, signaled that a march to impeachment may at some point become inevitable.

Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said if a House inquiry “leads to other avenues including impeachment … so be it.”..."

    Impeachment!?

I now believe that old saying that "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder".

    IT HAS TO BE TRUE:

Nancy and company know full well that the Senate will bounce the Impeachment vote into the thrash can and they (DNC) will be GLOBALLY shown up for their hatred for President Trump as were the Republicans when they did it to Bill Clinton (I am a pro-life Libertarian).

It was a huge mistake then and won all sorts of political currency and admiration for President Clinton.
To make matters worse Bill apologized PUBLICLY to the people, his family, everyone at least 3 times and they (RNC) still railed upon him. BIG MISTAKE!

If Pelosi says OK, Trump will then not only be a folk hero but will become a living martyr - a kind of living Joan of Arc if you will.
This will fill his metaphorical ammunition bunker with metaphorical bombs, bullets missiles, etc.
The campaign will be filled with his well deserved braggadocio (OH and you know he will ) of his survival, his base will swell to bursting.

I agree with Wingman68 - President Trump better not be going to any operas.

It seems impossible to me that Nancy will put her stamp of approval on impeachment.
Tomorrow will be VERY INTERESTING indeed.

If she doesn't give the nod expect a colossal rift in the DNC.

I forget who it was, but someone on the radio said the Dims were with their hearings by Nadler were doing a faux impeachment. Their only problem is President Trump was not playing along by forbidding the answering of subpoenas by his close associates, claiming "Executive Privilege". Now the Dims have got to decide if a full bore impeachment will be to their benefit.

She's realistic enough to know two things, that there's no way that the Senate will convict even if the House impeaches, and, impeaching Trump is NOT popular and will come back and bite the Dims in 2020.

I expect she will cave to pressure from the moonbats this morning though.

None, the high crimes and misdemeanors were committed by President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton. Neither one of them will ever be successfully prosecuted but the truth about them might be more widely published. If Hillary is such a good person, why can't she get a crowd on the campaign trail and why is she not mentioned more as a potential nominee in 2020? Michelle Obama has as much following as Hillary and Michelle is really out of it.

The Dems look as if they are going to run tired old white man Joe Biden in 2020.

The Dems can't get any legislation advanced because they spend all their time attacking one of the more popular presidents of our time. Obama could never draw the crowds and enthusiasm that Trump does all the time. Hillary only draws small crowds of party faithful. Bernie is down to attracting the Communist Party USA and the people who support Maduro and Castro, such as Prince Charles and his second wife.
