Three times I have seen cars driving around with a nosel and hose hanging out of their car. They tried to pump, realized they had to pay inside first, and drove off without pumping or replacing the nosel :Laugh. Stupid.

One time it was me :(.

Most "either-or" stations up this way charge extra (like 5 cents/gallon) for full service. There used to be one in a nearby town that was adjacent to a supermarket and charged about 30 cents extra, and did a good business with folks tuckered out from shopping.

Yeah, that's the way they do it in western Washington state - the pumps are all self-service or have a couple of pumps that are full service for a few more pennies per gallon,

Used to live down in Tigard, where all the pumps were staffed. I liked it when it was raining, which was often. Not sure about New Jersey but the average gas prices in Oregon are lower than either Washington state or California, it's quirky thing in a quirky state that I hope they keep,

I live in Roseburg, Oregon. Fear and panic has gripped the state of Oregon as our government has passed a law allowing some gas stations to become self-service. All I've heard from my fellow comrades is how terrified they are that they may be required to pump their own gas. Who will come to our rescue? How are we going to navigate the difficulties and dangers of the gas pump? This is Trumps fault!!!

Apparently, the situation is becoming quite dire in Oregon. An acquaintance received this message from her boyfriend in Oregon:

    "Dearest,

I am hanging on as best I can here in the land of the Oregonians. Today I saw an angry crowd just down my street burning a pile of fuel nozzles. I have heard tale of gasoline pumps being burned in effigy in various places around the state. The authorities are trying to maintain order, but how much longer can this desperate condition continue? HOW MUCH LONGER??? If only the politicians had left us alone in our socialist paradise of full service ecstasy. We are not ready, we are not capable, to handle this largesse of economic liberty being foisted upon us - the choice between pumping our own or being pumped by another. The possibility of torn off hoses, the lonely gas tank caps left on car roofs, the gasoline overflowing - it is all too much to bear.

I will shelter as long as possible but I must go out at some point for milk and bread - if there is any left in the stores. Think well of me. I will write again when, and if, I can.

    Name Withheld"

So what do you do with all those small service stations with only a few pumps?

They're all PYO. The hybrid stations are always among those with lots of pumps, and the majority of many-pump stations are all PYO.

So what’s my discount for Pyo where I never had to have one prior to this exercise.

Why, they ain’t doin it. So when I go to Pennsylvania I pay much more and have to pump my own. Same when I go to communist NY. Then if it’s snowing or sleeting and I’m wearing a suit. So if they are going to attempt somet like dat, be ready for a fight.
