psyche meds

    I'm looking to eventually wean off my psyche meds.

    Last year I was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder and a form of OCD. This year, with work and meds, I am doing much better, very well in fact--well enough that I am working as a cashier and able to interact with people for hours without anxiety symptoms showing up. People keep telling me if the meds are working that I should stay on them, but I....at least want to give lowering the dosage a try. If my symptoms return I can always go back up.

    I see that your thread has been out there for a while. I wish the best for you. I have a close family member who has been on meds such as that for a number of years. The meds are effective, although I wish there were something better because all medicine has potential side effects, and effectiveness tends to decrease after so many years.

    Maybe your therapist can work with you toward reducing your doseage and maybe even getting off the meds eventually.
