Perhaps, or (like Peter) have askew priorities, perhaps desire to “buy time to a greater good” as those martyrs who shot over the heads of the Auca attackers while giving their lives.

Not everyone can travel barefooted in the wilderness with a pan on their head and Bible in their hand (John Chapman).

I would not think a person arming themselves as rejecting Christ’s words. The centurion did not quit soldering, anymore than Luke stopped dispensing medicine to combat disease.

It is one thing to hold a personal standard and conviction, would that more could be found who submitted to the Scriptures in all matters, and another to impose such on others as some religious folks would do if they could do.

The magistrate arms himself telling God he will kill according to God's will. The believer arms himself telling God he will kill rather than do God's will.

The disciples constantly misunderstood Jesus spiritual expressions for natural expressions. Several examples may be given beginning with the Gospel of John.

Peter and the other person, likely also Simon Zealot (but just a guess) who took the words naturally were in error as all those who take up the same sword using those words of Jesus as their justification, when they do not read far enough when Jesus said, "It is enough" (Luke 22:38), He was not speaking about agreement of the amount of weapons (2) just brandished, but stated the words to the effect, meaning, Knock it off or quit or stop, you didn't get what I said.

Further evidence of this is when Peter actually uses that weapon and Jesus directly rebukes Peter and heals the ear of the one coming to take Himself. Jesus gave very specific words:

Mat_26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

Just as Roman Catholicism which took up the sword of the state (Rom 13; Rev 13:10,14, etc), received its deadly wound, having lost its state powers in AD1798, only to soon get full functionality again even unto persecution through its ally who becomes the sword in its hand again

Notice, Jesus didn't say Put up the sword I (Jesus) told you (Peter) to take, for He never told them (disciples) to take such a weapon, but rather stated "Put up again thy (Peter's) sword (his choice of weapon)", fighting spiritual battles with a carnal weapon is foolish (for Jesus told them to watch and pray, not stand guard with knives)., for Jesus said:

Joh_18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

    Also:
2Co_10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

So everything I was taught and military training to protect and defend, to value freedom and liberty, to fight and if need be to kill the enemy, to honor men who died... that was all a lie!!!

This is a separate issue. What the United States does in regards its militaristic actions (having very little to do with actual justice or defense (invading others territory is not defense) these days) is matters of State, not Religion.

A King's sword, the sword of the State (Romans 13) is not the Priest's Sword, the Sword of the Word of God (Hebrews 4:12) and the two are not to be confused, for the Priest of God (as a Christian is) is to never enforce worship (Commandments 1-4; Exodus 20:1-11) by the Sword of the State, and likewise the State never to dictate worship to the Priest, but is to enforce by State laws which affect men to men relationship as Stealing, Adultery, Murder, etc.

    Consider Roger Williams (a Baptist):

"... Williams was a staunch advocate of separation of church and state. He was convinced that there was no scriptural basis for a state church, and historian Timothy Hall suggests that Williams had arrived at this conclusion before landing in Boston in 1631.[26] He declared that the state should concern itself only with matters of civil order, not with religious belief, and he rejected any attempt to enforce the "first Table" of the Ten Commandments, those commandments that dealt with the relationship between God and individuals. Instead, Williams believed that the state must confine itself to the commandments dealing with the relations between people: murder, theft, adultery, lying, and honoring parents.[27] He employed the metaphor of a "wall of separation" between church and state, which was later used by Thomas Jefferson in his Letter to Danbury Baptists (1801).[28][29]

Williams considered it "forced worship" if the state attempted to promote any particular religious idea or practice, and he declared, "Forced worship stinks in God's nostrils."[30] He considered Constantine the Great to be a worse enemy to Christianity than Nero because the subsequent state support corrupted Christianity and led to the death of the Christian church. He described the attempt to compel belief as "rape of the soul" and spoke of the "oceans of blood" shed as a result of trying to command conformity.[31] The moral principles in the Scriptures ought to inform the civil magistrates, he believed, but he observed that well-ordered, just, and civil governments existed even where Christianity was not present. Thus, all governments had to maintain civil order and justice, but Williams decided that none had a warrant to promote or repress any religion. Most of his contemporaries criticized his ideas as a prescription for chaos and anarchy, and the vast majority believed that each nation must have its national church and could require that dissenters conform. ..." - Wikipedia; Roger Williams

He is in full agreement with statements made in the book Great Controversy, the Chapter on the Liberty of Conscience.

Stop dodging the question like a coward. Which of the following is allowed to a Christian:

Taser, pepper spray, hand cuffs, imprisonment, grappling, wrestling, pushing, punching, dodging, deflecting, fleeing, and maiming are all not killing.

"Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's" If one chooses to take an oath to serve the government then in that service you are required to uphold the Laws of that government , you are in service to. That means, that if the Laws of that government require it to be allowed for freedom of religion, and to protect the rights of all including Christians then you, who chooses to serve that system must obey.

Now let's say the status quo changes, and you are still in service to that same system. And it decides that you are to subjugate Christians? What does the one in military service or the police force do then? Or, what if that same government system decides, what it deems as Christian is Christian (Like here) and not what Christ clearly says? What then?

It is clear that in the service of Christ, men are to be like Him, not Caesar. And that ,regardless of the status quo of men's governments .What is also clear is, just as certain Jews who were the religious leaders of Christ's time influenced the government, certain religious men can and do today.

I see it here, men are quick to condemn all of a certain denomination a CULT. And this same type of "Christian" (I use that term loosely) whisper in the presidents ear now. This has even happened with the Catholic Church with certain men of it, telling Kings and Queens to persecute and even kill , those they deem heretics or simply distasteful and an affront to their agenda. The same with Protestants in history. Orthodox have even compromised and bend their knee and head to the whims of the king of the worldly kingdom .

The point: (Holy men) should influence the kingdoms of men, but the worldly do not belong influencing the kingdom of heaven. And men in sheep's clothing (TITLE OF CHRISTIAN IN WORD NOT ACTION), have influenced men's governments to do evil things to men.

Point: I have heard some vile hatred toward those not of your sect of Protestantism spoken in here, I am sure they would have no problem with "Catholic" Christians, and /or "Orthodox" Christians and whomever else they deem heretics being imprisoned and persecuted by the government. Personally, I feel if men keep their peace, they should not be persecuted at all. Differences of belief, does not mean men should be harmed because of that.

So, if the status quo changes and a certain of men are deemed enemies of the state because they will not serve Caesar and /or country, one in service to that system will have to choose honor that service , or be in TREASON! or at least gone awol .

Either way a penalty and punishment will be given and had!

Do you know what is soooo annoying ( I am sure many in here will say me) LOL! But really......everyone for "God" and country say this countries foundation was built on Christianity and it is a Christian country. That is not entirely true. What is most correct to say is, this country is built upon a Lukewarm doctrine of men. For clearly God's laws given and fulfilled in Christ are not the Law. Men have chosen what they want of it ,like they are visiting a buffet and pick and choose of it what it is they want as appose to seeing it at a Banquet table in which men are invited to sit. Sitting at that table means you eat what the HOST of the banquet puts on your plate and eat it all or you insult the host.

Men are hypocrites. Even the good things they would take and use , they can not obey. This is evident with the history of slavery. and segregation, with Roe v Wade even being an issue. If the system was not one of hypocrisy then that would have never slipped under the radar and become a law. It is clear, that in the name of righteousness all laws should be established to secure, the rights of every human to the right to at least live!

So what is true is men like some things that Christ says and some things they don't. But I argue who is anyone to tell the author of life what they like of Him and what they don't?:Whistling I know I won't. He's got the whole world in His hands, He's got the whole wide world in His hands........:Biggrin. Men of the world are in for a rude awakening.

NOAHIDE LAWS AND DECAPITATION FOR CONFESSING JESUS IS LORD
“IT IS IN FACT, THE LUBAVITCH JEWISH MOVEMENT OF WHICH THE NWO IS BASED”
NOAHIDE LAWS, Decapitation for Confessing “JESUS IS LORD”
We must pray for those who think their Christian yet support this insidious agenda that has been in progress for some time TALMUDIC NOAHIDE LAWS). My concern is for our Christian Jewish and gentile brothers and sisters in Israel who are hip to the Talmud and the Edom Zionist Rabbis intentions. Also , for Christians all over the world. The world leaders of nations that identify as Christian have signed the Noahide Laws into legislation. Israel in 2018 made the Talmud and Judaism the Law of the land of Israel. This fulfilled Bebe's vow to the Knesset aka as the Sanhedrin for today's modern Israel.

The Jewish Encyclopedia envisages a Noahide regime as a possible world order immediately preceding the universal reign of the Talmud.
It has to be understood that we are not dealing with the Noah of the Bible when the religion of Judaism refers to “Noahide law,” but the Noahide law as understood and interpreted by the absolute system of falsification that constitutes the Talmud, (Known and revealed in the Book of Revelation as "Those deep things of satan" by Christ
Under the Talmud’s counterfeit Noahide Laws, the worship of Jesus is forbidden under penalty of death, since such worship of Christ is condemned by Judaism as idolatry. Meanwhile various forms of incest are permitted under the Talmudic understanding of the Noahide code. (Enziklopediya Talmudit, note 1, pp. 351-352).
The Talmud also states the penalty for disobedience: “One additional element of greater severity is that violation of any one of the seven laws subjects the Noahide to capital punishment by decapitation. (Sanh. 57A)”
(Talmud – Sukkah 52a). With the end of free will, the opportunity to earn reward and enhance one’s portion in the World to Come will also cease — forever.
Rv:20:4: And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Maimonides Mishnah Torah, in Chapter 10 of the English Translation, states concerning Jesus Christ:
“It is a mitzvah [religious duty; ARC], however, to eradicate Jewish traitors, minnim, and apikorsim, and to cause them to descend to the pit of destruction, since they cause difficulty to the Jews and sway the people away from God, as did Jesus of Nazareth and his students, and Tzadok, Baithos, and their students. May the name of the wicked rot.” 6.
    And WHO Supports This?
George Bush, indicated in Public Law 102-14, 102nd Congress, that the United States of America was founded upon the Seven Universal Laws of Noah

What Are THE SEVEN LAWS OF NOAH?
According to the Pharisees, known today in modern day as Lubavitch Jews, the Noahide Laws are based from their version of the Talmud (Satanic version of the Torah)
    let’s take a closer look..
    1. Idolatry is forbidden. Man is commanded to believe in the One God alone and worship only Him.
    IDOLATRY
against entertaining the thought that there exists a deity except the Lord (to worship Jesus as the Messiah is blasphemy according to the Talmud and punishable by decapitation).
-against making any graven image (and against having anyone else make one for us)
-against making idols for use by others
-against making any forbidden statues (even when they are for ornamental purposes)
-against bowing to any idol (and not to sacrifice nor to pour libation nor to burn incense before any idol, even where it is not the customary manner of worship to the particular idol)
-against worshipping idols in any of their customary manners of worship
-against causing our children to pass (through the fire) in the worship of Molech.
    -against practicing Ov
    -against the practice of Yiddoni
-against turning to idolatry (in word, in thought, in deed, or by any observance that may draw us to its worship)
    2. Incestuous and adulterous relations are forbidden. Human beings are not sexual objects, nor is pleasure the ultimate goal of life.
    ILLICIT INTERCOURSE

against (a man) having union with his mother
against (a man) having union with his sister
against (a man) having union with the wife of his father
against (a man) having union with another man’s wife
against (a man) copulating with a beast
against a woman copulating with a beast
against (a man) lying carnally with a male
against (a man) lying carnally with his father
against (a man) lying carnally with his father’s brother
against engaging in erotic conduct that may lead to a prohibited union
    3. Murder is forbidden. The life of a human being, formed in God’s image, is sacred.
    HOMICIDE

    against anyone murdering anyone

    Continued.........

    4. Cursing the name of God is forbidden. Besides honoring and respecting G-d, we learn from this precept that our speech must be sanctified, as that is the distinctive sign which separated man from the animals.
    BLASPHEMY
to acknowledge the presence of God
    to fear God
    to pray to Him
to sanctify God’s name (in face of death, where appropriate)
against desecrating God’s name (even in face of death, when appropriate)
    to study the Torah
to honor the scholars, and to revere one’s teacher
    against blaspheming
    5. Theft is forbidden. The world is not ours to do with as we please.
    THEFT
    against stealing
    against committing robbery
    against shifting a landmark
    against cheating
against repudiating a claim of money owed
    against overcharging
    against coveting
    against desiring
a laborer shall be allowed to eat of the fruits among which he works (under certain conditions)
against a laborer eating of such fruit (when certain conditions are not met)
against a laborer taking of such fruit home
    against kidnapping
against the use of false weights and measures
against the possession of false weights and measures
that one shall be exact in the use of weights and measures
that the robber shall return (or pay for) the stolen object
    6. Eating the flesh of a living animal is forbidden. This teaches us to be sensitive to cruelty to animals. (This was commanded to Noah for the first time along with the permission of eating meat. The rest were already given to Adam in the Garden of Eden.)
    LIMB OF A LIVING CREATURE
against eating a limb severed from a living animal, beast, or fowl
against eating the flesh of any animal which was torn by a wild beast … which, in part, prohibits the eating of such flesh as was torn off an animal while it was still alive
    7. Mankind is commanded to establish courts of justice and a just social order to enforce the first six laws and enact any other useful laws or customs.

    JUSTICE

to appoint judges and officers in each and every community
to treat the litigants equally before the law
to inquire diligently into the testimony of a witness
against the wanton miscarriage of justice by the court
against the judge accepting a bribe or gift from a litigant
against the judge showing marks of honor to but one litigant
against the judge acting in fear of a litigant’s threats
against the judge, out of compassion, favoring a poor litigant
against the judge discriminating against the litigant because he is a sinner
against the judge, out of softness, putting aside the penalty of a mauler or killer
against the judge discriminating against a stranger or an orphan
against the judge hearing one litigant in the absence of the other
against appointing a judge who lacks knowledge of the Law
against the court killing an innocent man
    against incrimination by circumstantial evidence
against punishing for a crime committed under duress
that the court is to administer the death penalty by the sword
against anyone taking the law into his own hands to kill the perpetrator of a capital crime
    to testify in court
    against testifying falsely
    * This point is disagreed upon by different writers: “The Noahites are not restricted in this way but may judge singly and at once.”
(Note: The Jewish Law, found in Deuteronomy 17:6, requires the testimony of 2 or 3 witnesses before one can be executed. In fact, the last sentence of verse 6 specifically states, “…he shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness”. This should be our first clue that these seven Noahide Laws are nothing more than a clever counterfeit of God’s Ten Commandments)
This paves the way for the “Lord” to be defined as to who they define as Lord, and those who don’t agree or who refuse to worship their Lord, will be beheaded.

Just give a link instead of wasting forum space with the block of text nobody will read.

Posting stuff in this manner does not make you look Christian, it makes you look deranged and desperate.

I am answering the OP and if you want to respond as you want to, to whatever confronts you , that is your personal choice. Stop seeking to bring everyone into your choices and way of handling things. Yes or no, did Christ take up arms? at His birth the season of peace begins and men who accept that peace are too His peace. Though He is the same God of the OT In the OT it prophesied that he shall be called the Prince of peace. And to the increase of His government in that peace there shall be no end. First fruits serve Him only. We do not deal in hypothetical's. Only when we are confronted will we know how we will respond. Peter thought he could deal, and Christ showed him he would be weak. This before it even happened. POINT: the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. I will cross that bridge when I get there. I know how I want to be, I know what I want to do. ISRAEL, May God prevail!
