Actually, Paul as led by the Holy Spirit cleared it up for you.

So you think Paul approved of LGBT? Have you read Romans 1? Corinthians?

You can't pick the verses of the Bible to believe in.

I don't. But you can't either. WORSE, you can't take a verse out of context to push a meaning onto it that it does not have.

I'd be surprised to find anyone (male or female) that have been right in their teaching 100% of the time so I don't really follow your point here. My view comes from the passage that points out that a bishop is to be the husband of one wife. Obviously, God is speaking of men being pastors.
I had a wonderful SS teacher who was a lady. She taught us teen girls faithfully from the Bible and she was a faithful student of God's Word. She became my mother-in-law later and I greatly respect her. I would never support a woman in the leadership role of pastor or deacon or anywhere where she would be teaching men or young men.
Are you saying that women should not teach other ladies or children? I guess that goes for mothers teaching their own children?

I think it is fine for them to teach ladies and young women. I think children in general is a gray area that I have an opinion on but won't be dogmatic.

Why are women not a good role model for boys?

    Crystal,

The complementarian issue is getting a lot of press within the S.B.C. and evangelicalism as a whole. What is important is that we do not exceed the clear teachings of scripture. When it comes to women and teaching what does scripture have to say to the church on that topic? Paul, an apostle, wrote in 1 Timothy 2:12, "But I do not I allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet." So, we see that there is a prohibition against women teaching or exercising authority over men. What about children? Scripture does not speak to that issue. However, if we employ biblical principles it would be good for any teaching that is done under the auspices of a local church to be under the authority of the pastor and elders. This way, if Mrs. Smith is teaching a mixed class of 5-year-olds, the content of her teaching has the blessing of the church. If there are any questions or issues the pastor and elders will not be clueless as to what Mrs. Smith is supposed to be teaching and how the class is conducted.

    I hope this helps.

Does environment shape people? Why "Boy Scouts" and "Girl Scouts" if not?

I'm glad it worked out for you. But is Sunday School a biblically sound practice? Where is it in scripture?

Lets not get into this silly augment again. Granted, the Bible does not speak of having a Sunday School. And neither does it instruct us 1) to have communion once a month (as most Baptist churches do -2) to have hymnals (in the 17th Century - a major issue was to not have hymns) 3) to have Air Condition , 4) to have Bible Colleges (hmm Maybe former member S Anderson is correct about Bible colleges!)

Dave, just because the Scriptures do not specifically instruct us to do something - does not mean it is wrong to do so. --
unless Scripture specifically tells us not to. For example - it would be wrong for a church to steal something the church needs.

If Sunday School was a good thing, wouldn't scripture mention it? Why not have kids with their parents at church?

I haven't read of youth, children's, or discipleship pastors, so I couldn't say these are legitimate offices. Of course the role of a pastor is discipleship, so it seems that calling one a discipleship pastor is like saying, the typing secretary.

After seeing your posts about the Sermon on the Mount, I'm not sure you're a good judge of truth and error.

If the sermon is not for today, none of the bible is. The Sermon is the backbone of NT ethics. ....I'm not so sure about thee either.....

Check out this from (former) teaching elder Jason Anderson of Faith Reformed Baptist Church, Walkersville, Maryland (I copied down his teaching before the church went belly up and the website expired) on the dangers posed by lady Sunday School teachers and the WMU—links them to '19th century feminism' LOL:

"...Also of interest is the formation of the Women’s Missionary Union and the birth of 19th century feminism in this period. Perhaps there is a connection between the Sunday school movement and the disruption in the proper roles of headship and submission for men and women in the local church."
