First you say that he did not own slaves and then you say that he did own slaves and then you ask why the big memorials to a slaveholder are a problem for the Democrats in Chicago. Did you ever play connect the dots? The greatest Democrat ever to come out of Illinois was a slaveholder and the Democrats are proud of him--you yourself noted all of the wonderful things that he did.

 

You persistently said Douglas did not own slaves, and you were proved wrong. Now you want to revert back to what your questioner was talking about in the first place. You're some honest debater, ain't you?

BTW you never answered the question about MLK and a holiday with government and bank closings named for an "immoral man."

 

I think that Google has suppressed the part about Douglas being a slaveholder. Snopes recently tried to downplay the fact that Kamala Harris' Father says that his side of the family are descendants of slaveowners.

 

"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." I don't defend any sin but there are questions of degree. Trump is far worse and has done nothing of merit. MLK Jr. did have extramarital affairs but he also did a lot of good in bringing the issue of racism to the country's attention. He was against it. Trump is for it.

I'm from KY. I had ancestors on both sides in the Civil war. Sadly, one died at the Battle of Appomattox Court House right before the end of the war.
