You Still HATE the HOLY SCRIPTURES? Nothing there about Authority.

Its like when you ask for a cheeseburger and they bring you a chicken salad sandwich. WHERE IS THE BEEF?
Well it has bread like a cheese burger don't it?

Oh the bible is true. That doesn't teach us Sola Scriptura.

The bible is christian. That doesn't teach us Sola Scriptura.

Jesus Loves scriptures. That doesn't teach us Sola Scriptura.

Christian Loves the scriptures ain't got no problem sharing the word.

Unbeliever relies on UNBIBLICAL FALSE DOCTRINE as a foundation.

Show us where it teaches Sola Scriptura.

If scripture THOROUGHLY FURNISHES us, scripture alone is sufficient.

It doesn't say scripture THOROUGHLY FURNISHES US. Please contact your local English teacher, or have an EYE EXAM.

It says Scripture is PROFITABLE.... that is HELPFUL , NOT REQUIRED for for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Wearing sunglasses profitable for driving around in sunny weather. That doesn't mean you walk outside put your sunglasses on with NO CAR and brrrrrrrr you pretend to drive around.

Learn the difference between PROFITABLE and REQUIRED.

He could have wrote SCRIPTURE.....IS instruction in righteousness, IS DOCTRINE

But he didn't because he doesn't teach FALSE TEACHINGS.

None of this is talking about Scripture is the FINAL and ONLY AUTHORITY.

None of this remotely mentions SOLA SCRIPTURA.

You are just telling me BREAD see its a BURGER. WHERE IS THE BEEF!!!?!?!

I can follow the Command of Jesus.

    Matthew 18

15“If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. 16“But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED. 17“If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. 18“Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.

See that? that is called scripture. I just showed you Jesus telling you that the Church has final say AND it can BIND AND LOOSE, that is the church can call the shots.

Maybe you can show us where scripture teaches Sola Scriptura. Satan doesn't like Jesus' choice, Satan teaches falsehoods and LIES.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.2 Timothy 3:16–17 (KJV 1900)

Indeed PROFITABLE The word you IGNORE. Ask any English teacher. or read this scripture in another language.
Nothing in here says anything about scripture being the FINAL and ONLY AUTHORITY.
    Profitable doesn't mean required.

Do you contradict yourself as you appeal to the authority of the Scriptures for your claimed doctrine as you turn around and deny the authority of the Scriptures for doctrine?

The verses to which you appealed do not say concerning the church what you claimed. Those verses do not say that the church is the final authority for doctrine, and they do not say that you have the authority to speak for the church. Those verses concern when a brother sins, not how to establish doctrine.

Highest authority is God. God is head Church of the Church. The portion that says BIND AND LOOSE reports how it has authority to actually lay out rules.

Its not scripture given authority, Scripture merely reports how God gave the church authority.

The Church recognizes its authority straight from Jesus Christ, it is not based on scripture and existed years before the bible was established.

To say the church doesn't have authority is to throw out the baby with the bathwater. I suggest change the argument to say particular group is NOT the church, rather than challenge Church having authority.

If the church is not headed by Jesus Christ it is false and has ZERO authority.

What scripture says is TRUE. And you can correct anyone you want with scripture.

Nothing in scripture however teaches that scripture is the final and only authority.

And scripture itself cannot be identified without a church to tell you what book is legit or not.

This bible in my hand is the bible, says who? Not even your own bible has a inspired holy table of contents.

This should not have been debatable issue. This all could have been settled with one bible verse.

But because this unbiblical rule was fabricated it can't be found. So instead of admitting its unbiblical change the subject, attack character, etc.

This thread is about SOLA SCRIPTURA. Be more than happy to debate the catholics and their beliefs in other threads.

Nothing in scripture teaches that the modern Roman Catholic Church is the final and only authority.

It has not been demonstrated from the Scriptures that the Roman Catholic Church is a true, doctrinally-sound New Testament church, and it has not been demonstrated that its teachings are actually the doctrine of God instead of the traditions and opinions of men.

It has not been demonstrated from the Scriptures that believers are commanded to accept and follow the traditions and commandments of men as doctrine of God.

    Mark 7:7-9
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Nothing teaches the MAN MADE TRADITION of Sola Scriptura.

I'f you'd like to start a THREAD on the Church, Do it then. I double dog dare you to. :Biggrin

Changing the subject doesn't change the fact you follow a false doctrine never taught in scripture.

We ask for a bible line.....you change the subject.

You are the one following false doctrines never taught in scriptures.

You fail to prove your allegation against me to be true. You did not answer nor refute what I stated.

You are also improperly following the traditions of men.

You show that you misinterpret and misuse the Scriptures. The word of God is not bound or limited to the traditions and opinions of men.

The believers at Berea were strongly commended for searching the Scriptures to see if even the teaching of an apostle was so (Acts 17:10-12). They were not told that they should blindly accept whatever a church said instead of searching the Scriptures. This was even before the completion of the giving of the New Testament Scriptures to the apostles and New Testament prophets so it would be even more true after the end of God's giving of the Scriptures.

We see you folks as doing that.

We also see you folks doing that. First Martin Luther then right up to your guy John Smythe. You actually removed parts of the Holy Scriptures and then came up with your own interpretation of the rest of it.

That's what we see you doing.

So why do you follow the teachings about the scriptures given out by John Smythe?

First God gave us the Church and then the leaders of that church would decide what was to be considered the Holy Scriptures. They did not just magically appear one day in the form of which we now know them.

How about you search and not blindly follow Sola Scriptura. Show us a verse.

I don't see how we are in the wrong for asking for a bible verse. You are telling us a rule doesn't need a bible verse.

Roman Catholics add to the word of God in contradiction to scriptural truth, and they in effect nullify the word of God through untrustworthy oral traditions of imperfect men. They reject the sufficiency of the Scriptures for doctrine and in effect substitute the fallible opinions of men for the infallible word of God.

They attack and condemn the scriptural commendation of searching the Scriptures to see if the teaching of men is correct and true.

What was supposedly handed down by word of mouth would not be as trustworthy and authoritative as written words of God that proceeded by inspiration from the mouth of God to the prophets and apostles. The imperfect church fathers repeatedly contradict each other so that they do not agree on what was supposedly handed down imperfectly by word of mouth.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
