This is a great question brother Salty, but it is not a YES or NO question. The answer is a "it depends" which is based on ACTS 17:30-31 and JAMES 4:17. What do you think those scriptures mean and how do you think they answer your question?

I fail to see the relevance of the Acts passage. To my reading, it refers to the Judgement Day. Which could be any day of the week. It doesn't have to be either the Sabbath or the Lord's Day

I do not see the relevance of either verse to my question.

Bottom line - is calling a certain day "the Lords Day" more important than having the assurance of salvation and eternal life with the Lord.

Apparently that is the way you think.

Now you have went on and on and on attempting to get someone to agree with your view on the Lords day -
Well, it hasn't happened and I doubt it ever will.

Methinks its time to close this thread

That is ok brother Robertson. Let's put it in persepctive to the question being asked. The question asked by brother Salty was. "If a person believes that Sunday is the Lords day - will that keep him out of Heaven?"

The answer I provided was "it depends" then quoted ACTS 17:30-31 and JAMES 4:17 asking what he thought the meaning of these scriptures where and how he he may think these scriptures answer his question.

Ok this is how. God's WORD in ACTS 17:30-31 and JAMES 4:17 teach that there is a difference with GOD for his followers for sin that we are held accountable for.

ACTS 17:30 [30], And the times of this ignorance God winked at [does not hold us accountable]; BUT NOW [WHEN A KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH HAS COME] commands all men every where to repent.

JAMES 4:17 [17] Therefore to him that KNOWS to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

These scriptures show that there are

    1. SINS that we do not know that are sins in God's eyes we are not held accountable until God gives us a knowledge of the truth through his Word that what we may be doing in ignorance is sin.

    2. Once we receive a knowledge of God's truth through his Word he expect us to repent and believe and follow his Word.

    3. At this point if we receive a knowledge of the truth from God's Word that something we are doing is sin and reject Gods Word to continue in known unrepentant sin, than we have become in essence "UNBELIEVERS" and their remains no more sacrifice for sin but a fearful looking forward to of judgment to come.

So applying these scriptures to the question being asked.....

If someone does not know God's 4th commandment is one of the 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken *ROMANS 3:20 than if they are living up to all the knowledge God has revealed to them then they will go to Heaven.

On the other side if someone has been given a knowledge of the truth from God's Word and turns their back to God's WOrd and rejects it and continues in known unrepentant sin, God's Word teaches that they will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven because they reject the GIFT (the Word) of Gods dear son *HEBREWS 10:26-39; ROMANS 6:23.

We are babes in Christ in the Word of God, but God expects is to learn and grow as he teaches us His Word.

    May God bless you brother.

GROWING IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD’S WORD (KNOWN AND UNKNOWN SIN)

When we first come to Jesus. It is based on faith alone and also on all the knowledge that God has revealed to us at any given point of our conversion. After we come to Jesus by faith and recieve his peace and joy we are babes in Christ because we do not know much and at this time we are all held accountable to God for what we know and not what we do not know in the truth of his Word.

At this time we are to GROW in Christ to have a closer walk with him day by day. This is the provess of Sanctification and as some say is the work of a lifetime growing every day in and learning how to walk in faith in the KNOWLEDGE of God's WORD. The Holy Spirit as we continue in God's WORD will help us to have a closer walk with Jesus as we learn of him through his WORD God expects us to change our lives and to live up to all the light he reveals to us through his Word.

2 PETER 3:17-18 [17], You therefore, beloved, seeing you know these things before, beware lest you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. [18], But grow in grace, and in the KNOWLEDGE of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

    2 PETER 1:1-8
[1], Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ:

[2], Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the KNOWLEDGE OF GOD, AND OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST,

[3], According as his divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the KNOWLEDGE of him that has called us to glory and virtue:

[4], Whereby are given to us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

    [5], And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue KNOWLEDGE;

    [6], And to KNOWLEDGE temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

[7], And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

[8], For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the KNOWLEDGE of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Now in times of IGNORANCE when we do not know any better as we are babes and children growing in the KNOWLEDGE of God's WORD, God does not hold us accountable to things we do not know and to things he has not revealed to us or has not taught us.

ACTS 17:30 [30], And the times of this ignorance God winked at [does not hold us accountable]; BUT NOW [WHEN A KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH HAS COME] commands all men every where to repent.

When God reveals to us a KNOWLEDGE of the truth, then he expects us to change [REPENT] and to BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. At this time God has revealed to us a new KNOWLEDGE to help us to have a closer walk with him.

At EVERY POINT in the Christian life, as we grow in grace and in the KNOWLEDGE of God's WORD, we have a decision to make. Do I NOW BELIEVE AND FOLLOW GOD'S WORD? Or do I not BELIEVE God's WORD and not change our lives?

If we choose NOT to BELIEVE AND FOLLOW God's WORD or simply BELIEVE but DO NOT FOLLOW God's WORD because we LOVE SIN more then having a closer walk with Jesus until we REPENT and BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD we become "UNBELIEVERS" No unbeliever has part in the KINGDOM of HEAVEN because they have fallen from Grace.

JAMES 4:17 [17] Therefore to him that KNOWS to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

If we reject God's WORD when Jesus is calling us to GROW in GRACE and in the KNOWLEDGE of his WORD it is the same as rejecting Jesus.

HEBREWS 10:26-27 [26], For if we sin willfully after that we have received the KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,[27], But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

It is only as we CONTINUE in God's WORD gainig a KNOWLEDGE to Follow Jesus that we continue to be his disciples.

JOHN 8:31 [31], Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, IF YOU CONTINUE IN MY WORD, then are you my disciples indeed [this means CONTINUE TO GROW in the KNOWLEDGE of God's WORD, BY BELIEVING AND FOLLOWING God's WORD]; [32], And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

If we fail to CONTINUE in his WORD BELIEVING AND FOLLOWING God's WORD then at that point we no longer are his Children. Many Christians will be lost come judgment day because when God revlealed more of his WORD to them to help them to have a closer walk with Jesus they choose their SINS over the WORD of God.

JOHN 3:19 [19] And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4) God's 4th commandments is not a Shadow law. It is one of the 10 Commandments that give us a KNOWLEDGE of sin. If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Please prayerfully pray about this my brother. I believe God has written these words for your consideration.

More words from your prophetess Ellen White? But anyway, it looks like you and the Baptists are not seeing eye to eye on all this stuff either, so I think I'll just sit back and let you folks fight this one out.

On what? I have provided God's Word. You provide your own words which are not Gods neither do you address and respond to the scriptures that are only shared with you in love because they show you are in error.

I have only provided God's Word and God's WORD is not my words but God's. You provide your own words which are not God's either are they relevant to the topic of conversation. Only God's Word is true and we should believe and follow them. If I share God's Word with you why do you not believe them?

God's Sheep hear His Voice (the Word) and follow him. Those who are not His Sheep do not hear his Voice neither do they follow (JOHN 10:1-10; JOHN 10:26-27).

One more time - I totally agree but because of the structure of Matthew 12:8 it teaches that the LORD is Lord over everyday of the week including the Sabbath. Actually He is Our Lord 24/7. He is not a part time Lord.

EVERY DAY BELONGS TO THE LORD.

That is not what the scripture says brother. God's Word does not say everyday is the SABBATH, just the same as he did not bless every day and set every day apart as a Holy day of rest that no work is to be done *GENESIS 2:1-3; EXODUS 20:8-11.

    ............

WHAT DAY IS THE LORDS DAY?

    Answer: wait for it...

FOR THE SON OF MAN IS LORD EVEN OF THE SABBATH DAY (Matthew 12:8).

God does not need our help and ignoring God's Word does not make it dissappear.

If you disagree please show me the scripture that says "SUNDAY" (or the first day of the week) is "THE LORDS DAY"

If you cannot why do you not believe his Word? Only God's Word is true and you have provided none here brother Hank.

May you receive God's Word and receive his blessing.

So? You did not make that stipulation in the opening challenge. You keep moving the goalposts by embellishing your o/p

1, Nowhere and I said why - "Sunday" Is a Pagan name given to the 1st day of the week..
    2. ALL is the LORD'S, both time and materials psalm 24:1
    3. Yes, I am following the LORD

1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

The first century Christianity was Jewish. You might recall reading Romans where St. Paul makes a cause against the redemption of the Judaizers of Acts 15:1 where the old posited laws of the Jews were put ahead of Divine or its subset, natural law. Jesus Christ didn’t come to re-make the law rather He fulfilled the law, made it perfect in His own Sacrifice. He gleaned on the Sabbath and healed on the Sabbath. Christian and Jewish sects worship together, even worshiped in the Temple together, at least in the beginning from the first Pentecost [Acts 2:1] until 70 A.D. when Jerusalem fell and the city was sacked. The Jews were resentful of the early Catholic Church because of the warning given to the Christians by the Romans to ‘get out of town’. Unlike the Jews when the early Church returned from the hills, they were allowed to reclaim their property; the Jews had their property confiscated.

The Catholic Church teaches trend moved from the Sabbath to the Lords Day more so after the fall of the Temple. Even earlier St. Paul was moving away from celebrating liturgy only on the Sabbath normally taught at the Synagogue. [Cf. Colossians 2:16] As time went on, the Catholics were prohibited from celebrating the parousia, the Presence of Christ in the Eucharist within the Synagogue. Consequently, they went to the Synagogue on Saturday to celebrate the liturgy and celebrating the Lord’s Day on Monday in private homes [Acts 20:7]: when they broke bread they were celebrating the Eucharistic meal - the “Lords Day.” Over a rather a short period of time the Sacrament of the Liturgy and the Sacrament of Communion centered on that day where Jesus Christ is Present among us. By the end of the first century Catholic Churches loyal to the teachings of Rome, the office St. Peter sprang up all over the meditation.

And that’s the way it was in the 1st century Catholic Church.

You (Ellen White) interpret the Scriptures badly. For over 1800 years Christians have properly worshipped on Sunday - you and your sect don't so there is not much more I can say.

It is not God's word you share, but your false interpretation of it - that is why I do not believe what you say.

YES. Well if there were still Isis/Osiris worshipers around they might say it is divine intervention :)
