Trump Here Tomorrow Night

President Trump will be in Monroe tomorrow night. I don't live in Monroe but I have friends and family going to see him.

Of course he is coming here to promote the Republican candidate for governor. We are in a run off this week between newcomer Rispone and incumbent Jon Bel Edwards.

I just don't want any fights or hullabaloo.

There's already been rumors of it. Pray for peace in Monroe, Louisiana tomorrow night.

 

All I can tell you is what people I know from Monroe are saying on Facebook and what I listened to on the radio.

[1] People are angry that the mayor of Monroe did not attend. He [the current mayor] has given the key to the city to Louis Farrakhan twice - yes, that's two times. He also would not give permission for Trump-haters to have a parade there. He said they did not have the right permits - I did see that on Facebook and boy, were they mad. I'm talking unhinged mad. Saying things about the mayor that's just as bad as what they say about Trump.

[2] There was no fights or scuffles. I did "hear" - can't cite evidence - that there were some of the opposing side outside disrupting the National Anthem. But that was all I heard. Again, I got that second hand and only once. It may not be true.

[3] People are saying that the air conditioning was not on at the Civic Center or at least not low enough. The sweat factor here in northern Louisiana is a big deal. Some say it was done intentionally. Who knows. The weather here has been so erratic - 30's one day and 70's the next. Maybe it was just an oversight. or perhaps the amount of people in the building made it too hot.

[4] People were lined up before the sun came up. The mayor of Monroe did see to it that venders were there selling food and drink, but provided very, very little trash receptacles. And no cleaning staff was there.

[5].As far as what I listened to on the radio - it was "meh". Too much insulting other people and not just by Trump, but by a lot of speakers. Duck Dynasty leader wasn't much help with his "If you are for God, America, guns, and duck hunting - that's all I want." He is so passe'. There was no need to have those people up there. I'm for God, America, and guns, too. But surely there's more to leading this country than this.

[6] Most of what I read from friends on Facebook who were there was that there was too much cussing - from Trump. Lots and lots of children were there - and young, too. I know several who took their kids.

[7] It just wasn't a moving rally - at least from the radio perspective. I'm still voting for him, but this tour of Louisiana right now is just to make sure John Bel Edwards [D] does not go back in as governor. But I don't think Rispone [R] is any better at all - not in the least.

So, all in all, it was uneventul.
