The last few posts remind me of a cartoon I saw in which a Baptist pastor stands at the pulpit and bellows:
"My test today is the first 3 words of the Bible--"Genuine Moroccan Leather!"

Don't forget, all the Nazi leaders were Catholic.

Hitler was Catholic, Stalin was Catholic (Orthodox)
    .
I'm talking about the ideal of a Nazi is no different aside from a different team.

The same bigotry found with the Pharisees.

Evil doesn't call itself Evil, it calls itself Good and points at another person as being part of the problem.

It states we are the chosen ones , we are the children of God, and anyone who does not agree with our ideology is evil and of the devil.

Jesus taught love your enemies. But some folks here believe he doesn't practice what he preaches, instead Jesus hated plenty of people unconditionally since the foundation.

Keep telling yourself this bigotry and you'll keep believing it. It certainly is a fantastic crutch you have constructed.

Under your theology. The crutch is God given and nothing can stop him from taking it away.

Anyone with half a heart can recognize the evil you want to shove down a person' throat. That in a world were you believe God has a right to behave evil, he would exercise this "right" only because you do.

God is not evil. God is Love. God is recognizably Good objectively by anyone. You paint a Jesus who demands the blood of others. Jesus who hates brethren.

Worshiping a evil megalomaniac is not justified by mere slapping a Jesus name tag on it.

Notice you never defend against his being called evil......you look for ways to sugar coat and justify it.

God has the good perfect patience to stop and hear your questions.

Your good conscience is God's call to you, but selfishness and fear are the masters you shove him away as you do the teachings of Christ.

Hebrews 12:7-29 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears. For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest and the sound of a trumpet and a voice whose words made the hearers beg that no further messages be spoken to them. For they could not endure the order that was given, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.” Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear.” But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven. At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.

Romans 1:18-32 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Romans 2:1-29 Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality. For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus. But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law; and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. For, as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.” For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision. So, if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? Then he who is physically uncircumcised but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law. For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.

Romans 3:1-26 Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God. What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, “That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.” But if our unrighteousness serves to show the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unrighteous to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.) By no means! For then how could God judge the world? But if through my lie God’s truth abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner? And why not do evil that good may come?—as some people slanderously charge us with saying. Their condemnation is just. What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin, as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.” “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; in their paths are ruin and misery, and the way of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

    Love...is an odd thing.

We have different beliefs. We argue about them here. Sometimes heatedly.

But with that said, I imagine that if one of the Catholic members here put out a message saying their car broke down and they have no money for a meal or hotel, the Baptist members would have no problem reaching out to help.

And if the circumstances were reversed, I believe the Catholic members would do the same for the Baptists.

Arguing theology isn't all to life.

I believe that Rob, not everyone does. Folks will tell you well the OTHER guy doesn't actually love you, his motives are imperfect and not of God. What he does is fake, EVIL even.

Or like my buddy here said:

"That is a nice sentiment, but it is also false. Before God redeemed you, you did acts of kindness, goodness and love that were entirely selfish in nature. God was not the source of your actions at all. You were the source of your actions as you did everything for your glory, not God's.
Now that you have been redeemed, the source of your actions has been changed by God's gracious work."

If a Muslim dies to save your life......Its a FLUKE. The combativeness against any belief or faith differ then yours its built in, Those weekday bible studies you get taught what others believe not by the people by the guy who says everyone else is EVIL.

Do I not worship Mary, Statues and have the Devil for leadership?

Arguing theology might save your life.

Sent by his mother to the seminary in Tiflis (now Tbilisi), the capital of Georgia, to study to become a priest, the young Stalin never completed his education, and was instead soon completely drawn into the city's active revolutionary circles. Never a fiery intellectual polemicist or orator like Lenin or Trotsky, Stalin specialized in the humdrum nuts and bolts of revolutionary activity, risking arrest every day by helping organize workers, distributing illegal literature, and robbing trains to support the cause, while Lenin and his bookish friends lived safely abroad and wrote clever articles about the plight of the Russian working class.

Biography of Stalin produced by PBS.

My point is that I can drag up example after example of 'Baptists Gone Bad'. Bart Erhmann was a 'bringin 'em to Jeezus!' until he decided the scriptures were nonsense. The SBC has been covering up sex abuse for years. I was a member of a Baptist church whose pastor diddled children for years and the elders covered for him. Sin and sinners are everywhere, too often within our churches. You seem to love pointing fingers at those who were Catholics.

Indeed. There are many wolves among the sheep.
In truth, I consider your leader a wolf among the sheep. His words and actions betray him as a marxist.

Back to the thread's topic. No Baptist revival rivals that of the countless thousands who are finding Christ real at Medjugorje. The blessed Mother points away from herself to her Son, Jesus, and constantly preaches the need for repentance, conversion, fasting, and prayer. Skeptical intellectuals have experienced signs and wonders at Medjugorje that have changed their lives. '

But the Catholic church is not as gullible as many evangelicals are. These apparitions have not been officially sanctioned in the way that the awesome apparition of Mary at Lourdes and Fatima have. The children received in visions several apocalyptic secrets that they will reveal to a priest of their choice 3 days prior to their fulfillment. We are wise to postpone final judgment until these verifications or falsifications occur. If no such dates are ever specified, then we will know that God has not inspired the revelation of these secrets. If Medjugorje ultimately proves to be deception, then we will know that major outpouring of the Holy Spirit. agape love, and healing power may be thoroughly contaminated by the demonic. That would be a powerful, if frightening, lesson, with implications for how we assess the great alleged evangelical revivals and spiritual awakenings of bygone ages.

According to Jesus demonic power doesn't leave room for healing under evil motivation.

    Luke 11

17But He knew their thoughts and said to them, “Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and a house divided against itself falls. 18“If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.

Jesus was charged with healing and driving out demons by the power of demons. Rather then the defense of not sided with demons he turns the tables stating if he does these things demonically then the kingdom of Satan is laid waste.

    Enlighten us.
The first great awakening saw 3/4 of the colonists come to faith and walk in faith afterwards. Pastors around the colonies discipled these new believers.
Who is tracking the faith of these people and their perseverance in the faith? Who is discipling them.
Jonathan Edwards wrote an excellent tract on the Great Awakening regarding the work of the Holy Spirit in the revival. He entitled it Religious Affections.
You can read it at the Christian Classics Ethereal Library.
