Question concerning first.

This thread uses the term “first” as it relates to achievement and accomplishment.

I now that some in the world put great priority on “first.” Being first place. Being the first to establish footsteps on the moon or in newly poured concrete.

However has humankind ever truly “first” or the “first” at anything?

For example, Adam was the first man. But was Adam first of all creation? Wasn’t he the last andmade from the dust?

Sometimes we consider Adam as the first sinner, but was he? Was no sin already present?

The Scriptures refer to the “first Adam” but that doesn’t count, because the second existed before the first.

This thread is dedicated to finding something in which humankind is first.

Perhaps something validated in Scriptures?

Any thoughts?

He loved us first.
He sacrificed first.
He was reconciled first.
He forgave first.
He adopted first.
He prepared first.
He is first fruits.
He returns first.
...

 

Was not the second Adam eternally and “took on the form...”?

 

Interesting. Perhaps. Here are some random thoughts:

God made the man and from the man his "help (to) meet."

But was there an actual marriage when there was no civil authority?

What of the idea that men and woman are unioned in the flesh, is that not the actual beginning of marriage?

Christ spoke about the writ of divorce from the time of Moses, was inconsistent with what God purposed from the beginning.

The parameters of the marriage were set out at the end of Genesis 2.

The Scriptures used the title "husband" in Genesis 3:6, and in Genesis 3:16 God pronounces an emotional bond of submission upon her that apparently did not exist previously.

Adam named his wife Eve Prior to them being clothed, in Genesis 3:20.

And in Genesis 4:1 is the first statement of consummation.

So, unless someone objects, then this would certainly be the first of any firsts to be mentioned.

I don't want to delve too deep into the weeds on this topic, but to give a panorama view, one could look upon the eternal who "being found in human form, humbled himself," who also "appeared before Abraham by the oaks of Mamre" and in Isaiah's seeing "the Lord, high and lifted up..." as one who already possessed the "human" form yet was eternal.

I am not presenting that the human form existed in eternity when the heavens and earth were created (though some do) but that the Adam (first of eternity) was before the Adam of the earthly. I am taking Rev. 13:8 as foundational in presenting that prior to the Eden Adam, the eternal Adam had already been established as Redeemer by death and resurrection, and yet not in human history constrained by time. It is my thinking (so far) that 1 Corinthians 15:47 would support this presentation.

However, I am not so obligated that modifications by Scripture cannot conform me into a more valid perspective.
