Both are inspired by God per Catholic theology on matters of doctrine, so which was right?

Only the scriptures and Trinity Themselves are infallible!
No Pope can be such as many of the Roman doctrines Popes agreed with are antichrist!

So since your sect claims no infallibility on it's teachings, then no one should follow anything it says.

A couple of observations. First, most Protestants are simply ignorant of the Catholic understanding of infallibility. We can see that in real-time with the posts in this thread. Secondly, when you get down to it and explain what it means, I find most Protestants don't actually have a problem with it. Rather, their problem is that someone other than themselves dare lay claim to being infallible.

    Job.4:v.18 - 21
18 Behold, He - God - put no trust in His servants; and His angels he charged with folly:

19 How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?
20 They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it.
21 Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.

Now let us see and be honest: If the Most High God in His angels He found folly as is written above, think then how many folly will He find in the Pope? Ahahahahah

    Psalms 52:v.1-6
1 Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.
2 The tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.
5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.

6 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him: - Ahahahahah -

    Jeremiah 17:v.5-6
5 Thus saith the Lord; CURSED be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.

6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

    Jeremiah 17:v.7-8

7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Anyone who declares what is or is not the Christian faith is doing so under the presumption that their version of Christianity is the infallibly correct one.

What do these random quotations have anything to do with what I wrote?

---> How do you know what is or is not the Christian faith (or whatever it is you subscribe to)?

    Answering your question:
    You said:
" First, most Protestants are simply ignorant of the Catholic understanding of infallibility. We can see that in real-time with the posts in this thread."

That said, you are not being righteous, In fact there is not any ignorance of Christians different of your group, by the contrary, they have perfect knowledge of Scriptures as those "alleatory quotations" was posted. They know to discern what is true and what is fake like the supposed infallibility of the Pope. This catholic dogma and doctrine is a human and diabolic invention only accept by the false Cristianity.

    You said:
"Secondly, when you get down to it and explain what it means, I find most Protestants don't actually have a problem with it."

It is not a surprise most Protestant or Christians "drink" that drink , because the Spirit - God is Spirit - speaketh EXPRESSLY, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith (apostates), giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; even forbidding to marry,...1Tim.4:v.1-3 - Its it. -

First what is faith? Faith is a gift of God. Well, what does the Word of God say? Who is of God hears the Word of God. John 8:v.47
Rom. 10:v.17 - So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Heb.11:v.6-7

Many things we can say about faith in accord Scriptures that show "what is or is not the Christian faith", I would say what is the faith of true Christians, and that that is not of true Christian. There is no neutrality, or it is of God or it is of the Devil, or it is true or it is lie.

Heb.6:v.1 - Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

But JESUS warned, saying : Luke 18:v.8 - Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth? Shall He?
