I just read this piece at SBC, and wondered if any of you have thoughts about what happened.

Suspended & Silenced by an SBC Pastor (By Dr. Susan Codone)
Maybe this is enough to get you going, but better to read the whole piece and the comments.

She speaks the language, ie. deplatforming. People who seek to deplatform others resort to doxxing. It's a common practice for those of a certain political bent.

So we might say the deplatformer was deplatformed?

If Dr. Codone relays her life story accurately (and I have no reason to believe she doesn't), hers is a very sad one, a teenager who was abused by her youth minister, and then by her pastor after she told him what the youth minister was doing.
A message for all of us who attend church

However, that does not bind me to agree that she always proceeds innocently or correctly. I am not generally in favor of people trying to shut down the speech of others. It is intriguing coincidence that she is complaining about Twitter shutting down her speech, when she in turn is trying to shut down the someone else's speech.

She also teaches at Mercer, a theologically far left school that broke ties with the SBC decades ago over the conservative resurgence. Perhaps she might have a revenge-based agenda against the Pattersons as convenient targets?

A couple of other brief comments:

    1. Codone wrote that she "first followed the 'Matthew 18 rule' and reached out to Timothy privately by email to voice my opposition and ask him to find replacement speakers. He did not respond." By this she wants to sanctify her actions by tying them to a biblical injunction. However, as I see it, she did not actually follow Matthew 18, in that she never actually had any dialog with this pastor -- just sent an e-mail from which she didn't hear back. How does she even know he received it?

    2. Our society seems consumed with a "bullying by social media" type of culture -- a form of "might makes right." If you can get enough protesters to make enough noise you can shut someone or something down. Your cause doesn't have to be good or right, just more powerful than the other side. On the front blank page of my Bible I have written, "A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still."

She also tries to use her history of being a victim of sexual.abuse as some sort of ,"I have to be right cuz Im a victim" platform. It doesnt make her anymore right or wrong.

“Doing the right thing” or “tuck tail and run”? I don’t know any specifics, but this question comes to mind because it seems well-nigh impossible to think they did not know who and what Paige and Dorothy Patterson are when they accepted the speaking engagement. Perhaps there is a third option.

In “Abuse survivors protest Paige Patterson’s invitation to speak at Florida Baptist church,” Baptist New Global mentions Tommy Green (executive director of the Florida Baptist Convention) and Wayne Briant (regional catalyst for the statewide affiliate of the SBC, whatever that means) dropping out of the lineup of scheduled speakers. Bob Allen writes, “Green did not respond to an e-mail requesting comment, and Briant told the Naples Daily News that a conflict came up and he could no longer attend.”

    Thanks for the update!

So good to see the state convention is no longer a sponsor!
    from your link:

"The Florida Baptist Convention was originally listed as a sponsor, but that designation disappeared from subsequent versions" [of the promo page on Pigg's church's website]
