You are responsible for your own sins. You have been making absolutely false charges against the NIV for more than a dozen years. I have challenged you to prove those wild and irresponsible accusations by citing passages from the text of the New Testament NIV. You have never done so. These are just some of your false charges : that there is a feminist plot to undermine Christians, that women are qualified to be elders and pastors, and that women are encouraged to be heads of households. All of the aforementioned are bogus and you know it. But you are okay with it. The more mudslinging, the better, because you have never been held to account for your mendacity. You continue on your merry way. Christians aren't supposed to lie yet you have been doing it constantly regarding the NIV. You cannot find it within yourself to admit what you frequently do is wrong.

Let's say a John MacArthur book came out and you actually read it from cover to cover. Someone on the BB comes along and says that JM believes 1) in women as pastors and elders in the church 2) that women should be heads of homes not men 3) that a feminist mindset is perfectly permissible in today's Christian church.

You would be rightly offended. "John MacArthur has not said or implied any such thing! That is reprehensible!" Well Y-1, what you have been doing is far worse than that. You have accused a worthy Bible translation of those gross things. It is inexcusable.

I have and have used the 1984 Niv for years, as that version was a fine translation, the best among the so called dynamic ones, but the Tniv 2005 and Niv 2011 were both done for the expressed purpose of "updating" the Niv to reflect modern English Grammar AND to reflect the norms held by many Christians in regards to get away that perceived masculine bias in scripture, so yes, can allow for Female leadership and headship in home and Church!

Your false statements cannot be supported by any passage in the text of the NIV. Stop your myths and turn to the truth. Your constant drumbeat of false allegations against a fine Bible translation has got to stop. If this were a court of law you'd be up the creek without a paddle. Peddle your fabrications elsewhere. But do not play pretend here. Anyone with a reasonable unbiased mind would say "Where does it say this, where does it say that? You have never been able to do it because you have been making things up all along. That's not right for a professing Christian. It would be just as unjust and plain wrong for anyone to make up the very same false allegations for the NKJV, and NASB. You can't find your wicked charges in the text of the NKJV, NASB or the NIV. Desist.

You are dead wrong. You know it. Your charade is stupid. If it's not in the text of the NIV your charges are pure fiction. And it proves you are no lover of God's Word since you have falsely accused the NIV with wicked things it does not say.

NIV 1 Timothy 2:11,12 : "A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet."

Y-1, after years of your babbling about the NIV catering to the feminist lobby and advocating a woman's authority over a man. Do you see verses like these putting a lie to your accusations? But I have given you over and over at least a dozen verses that completely overthrow your baseless claims. You have yet to admit that you have been woefully misrepresenting the NIV. You haven't been waging your campaign for a few months, but 15 years. Finally, you have to come forward, confess your wrongdoing and set the record right.

You're quibbling, about "not...to assume authority over a man" ???

    Oh brother!

What a hoot! The NIV is using a quite vintage wording, you can find it used centuries ago! Here it is, for example, in Calvin's commentary on I Tim. 2:12:

Same as what NIV says today!

I know they had a great understanding of Gods Word because of the life they lived before me and how they treated others. Their life was a testimony of a new birth before my eyes. My grandmother lived alone after my papaw died for several years before she passed away. You didn’t find her dabbling in the things of the world. She wouldn’t have a tv though she lived alone. She couldn’t drive, so she kept a drawer full of cassettes from local preachers to listen to because she couldn’t get to church. Her Bible was always out where she had been studying. I’ve been told by more than one person several times that at the church she belonged to before she got unable to attend, that many times she’d come to church shouting praises to the Lord and leave shouting. They said she had passed out a time or two she had shouted so much. There was Holy Ghost power in their singing and testifying that gave witness that they had a great understanding of God’s Holy Word.

I’m not saying people reading a modern translation don’t, but with the problems in our church’s today, somewhere we’ve got off track. I believe the Lord tells us to seek out the old path, which is the good way and walk there in.

I love all of you all and not on here to prove anyone wrong just sharing what’s on my heart.

No offense, but none of that says they had a great understanding.

It does when they had witness of Gods Holy Spirit in their testimonies. It’s the spirit that bears witness that we are the children of God. I hear many folk talk about God and the Lord, but others bear witness as they talk by His Spirit.

Again, that doesn't mean that they had a fuller understanding and it definitely doesn't mean that the KJV is superior.

Document. Prove from the text that there is any basis for your accusation. If it's not in the text, you're making things up. Don't twist the Scriptures, or as the KJV renders it :"Do not pervert the Scriptures."

I'm with you on this. There are still over 3000 languages in the world without a single verse of Scripture translated. Yet here in the US the push is towards better and newer revisions all the time. And I find thin the argument that language change rapidly. Coming back permanently to the US after 33 years overseas, I found some differences in the English spoken nowadays, but not enough to warrant the "language changes so fast" argument in favor of a new revision ever 10 or 20 years to whatever translation.
