A simple few questions to provoke debate.

    1. Does God use revelatory experiences, like appearing to people in dreams, to call people to faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

    2. Does God use miracles to call people to faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

I am biased with my own position, because I received revelatory experiences, miracles, and of course conviction of sin, righteousness, and judgment to come to the point of embracing faith in a Jesus Christ I do not see. I desire to understand your positions though, even if in conflict with mine.

Yes, indeed, most especially in places where the Bible is very scarce if at all and few missionaries as in some dangerous Islamic countries.

God is doing a powerful work there in documented cases of dreams and miracles to draw people to Christ. I am of the opinion - OPINION - that where the Bible is in abundance and where competent and Godly preachers and teachers and missionaries are in abundance that there are much fewer dreams and miracles as the Word is of great power.

I think that Giod would do those things that you mentioned here in areas that has been shut off pretty much to the good news, and so dream/vision/wonders would be Him breaking into those darkened nations and lands, but once in there, would be quickly transferring back under the normal way of doing things, such as preaching and preaching of the scriptures themselves!

I can see God doing that in order to get the Gospel into lands and people ignorant of Jesus, but once established, would see Him operating in his notmal means of thru the scriptures themselves directly!

I agree with you both on it being primarily for those that never heard the Gospel. I must state that I was in atheist circles much of my life and did not hear the Gospel until 20 while living here in America my whole life. People next door, whether in America or Europe, may never have been witnessed to and preached to once in their life in a way they understood. With the increasing isolation of people in the West due to the internet and cliques, I expect more miracles and revelatory experiences to save the Lost all around us.

I was then given more experiences as a liberal Christian lost in Charismaticism to save me. IMO sometimes God uses what He uses to break through to us, even those that knew what the Gospel is.

The signs and wonders of Acts were used to mainly reveal to the Jews that Jesus was indeed the promised Messiah, and so will be doing the same in those isolated/special areas!
