    From the Syracuse, Post-Standard:

Five Roman Catholic churches in or near Oswego, NY are merging on 31 May, 2020.

of parishioners is dwindling, and priests are harder and harder to find, diocese officials"

    ...............population................. RC church members...............%

    1910........23,368..................................12,772..................54.65

    2019........17,337.......................................971....................5.60

A independent Baptist recently became a SBC church
There are two other IFB churches in Oswego.

Where are you in NY? We have a couple of pastors from our church that have accepted the call to pastor churches in NY.

and Lebanon Springs - is also about 3 hours east of us.

If they ever get to Syracuse, tell them to look me up.

and be sure to tell them to bring their snow shovels!

But in reality all Baptist churches are independent
and many SBC churches are fundamental.

You’d better in that snow belt. I used to have that as a sales territory and spent a lot of time up there... Watertown,Onienta, peakskill, Albany, Rochester, Binghamton, Syracuse, Buffalo, Corning etc. Surprisingly it was Syracuse that had the most snow.... one year it was over 200 inches of precipitation... mostly snow.

Many of my Baptist friends and acquaintances are Southern Baptist, is there any difference with the Independent Baptist, or is it just governance.

Not quite - the most we have had is 192.1 inches - info from the Golden Snowball award
Now if you go up to Tug Hill area regularly gets over 200 inches a year

and then you come to Syracuse, and never stopped off to see me!!!

The big difference is the way SBC supports missionaries. The SBC has two mission boards 1) Home 2) Foreign. When a missionary is accepted by one of the two boards - basically he is put on salary (not sure exact legal status) and is on his way to the field.

IFB has one of two ways - 1) the missionarys home church will support all or most of a church member to go to the field. 2) Most though - will select a mission board of which there are dozens and dozens of. After a mission board is chosen - then the missionary will start contacting churches to seek support until they have enough to go to the field. . I don't have exact states- but for example - He writes 100 letters - gets 10 invitations - and out of those 10 churches - 1 will support him anywhere from 25 # or so up up to 2-3 hundred dollars monthly. Now this is just a general overview - I would encourage any missionary to give his specific experience.
Some missionary appointees may be on deputation anywhere from 1 -3 years collect support.

Many, many more Catholic Churches opening worldwide than closing. the Catholic church has the fastest growing Church in the world. Baptist churches are closing left and right where I live. American Baptist churches that hold 500 or more people have membership of about 15 to 20. mostly gray haired women

There is no central missionary board to direct and manage the missionaries, and pay the salaries, coordinate mission fields, etc...
