    1. All humans are totally depraved and nothing good can come out of them.

    2. Jesus was not depraved and only good came out of him.

    3. Jesus was fully human.

Sin touched every part of every man but every man is not as evil as he can be. Many people are moral human beings but because of sin they are not capable of seeking God. Total depravity does not mean that they are incapable of doing good.
Jesus did not inherit sin from
Adam, he was able to seek God the Father. Jesus added humanity to himself and his flesh covered the Shekinah Glory.

We have been created in the image/likeness of GOD. The Book of James confirms that we still bear His image.

James 3:9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.

Yet we come into this world as a member of a sinful race, condemned, helpless and without hope apart from the mercy and grace of our heavenly Father who abundantly provided that mercy and grace through faith in the death, burial and resurrection of our great God and Savior the LORD Jesus Christ.

So personally i prefer to say that apart from the image of GOD we are totally depraved.

This denies the third part of the trichotomy.

This obviously denies the first part.

Be careful you do not blaspheme GOD by cursing HIS IMAGE with your so called "Trichotomy" RULES brother.

James 3:9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.

I didn't explain the point of a trichotomy. A good trichotomy is set up so that three common beliefs are presented. However, all of them cannot be true. The trichotomy is a teaching tool used to help people understand that they actually don't believe in all three. They disbelieve in one of the three. The only way to believe all three is deny any ability to reason on our own part and declare that this is one of the mysteries of God no one can understand.

In trichotomies, if one denies it in part, one just simply denies it. The question is not whether one can weasel out of the trichotomy but rather how one weasels out of it.

Sai, for example, went into quite some detail explaining how Jesus added humanity to himself. In other words, he was denying that Jesus was fully human.

Barry Johnson said that people can respond to the gospel. This clearly denies that people are totally depraved and nothing good can come from them since responding to the gospel is considered a good.

    Similarly, saying

is denying the first part. If one can't say humans are totally depraved, then you are disagreeing with our being totally depraved. Adding "apart from the image of GOD" is a denial of the first part.

I too deny the first part of the trichotomy. I made no judgement about denying the parts, however I wanted people to understand what they believed better.

You forgot to add Marty... Jesus was fully human... AND FULLY GOD!!!

1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Man is fully Adam and is Totally Depraved from head to toe, because the Bible says so!... Brother Glen:)

again IMO we should be careful when saying bad against another man since we are created in His image and likeness.

in my younger days i thought i was some sort of spiritual warrior by bringing down God's wrath upon the heads of God's "enemies" :Cool

    Luke 9
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

Yes there is a time and place for this but the normal procedure is this:

    2 Timothy 2
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
    25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
