Hi, I'm an independent fundamental Baptist. However, until I was saved four years ago, I was a "moderate evangelical." I attended Asbury Theological Seminary, a relatively liberal seminary on the bible, to become a teaching pastor in a Mainline church.

Ok, I have 45 Credit hours earned towards an MDiv. My problem is I don't want to go back to Asbury, because I have a different faith tradition now. However, I will lose a lot of credits to go elsewhere. Additionally, Asbury doesn't want me back due to the length of my medical leave, six years. That said, Asbury can't do that because of my rights as disabled. The Department of Education is on it.

What would you recommend I do? I want to seek accomodation to study bible elsewhere from Asbury while getting my degree there. Is that wise?

Years ago credits were only good for seven years if I remember right. Of course that did not involve a medical disability, so it could be different. What you should do would at least in part depend on how long your credits stay valid.

Depends on what you are trying to do

    Pastor? IFB?

Several Schools have reversed the 7 yrs deal.

    SBC something different

What classes have you had? Ones that you need?

Liberty University is good at transferring credits. How they get applied is based on the syllabus for each class. Some credits may apply as an elective but its likely you will retain all of your credits. It doesnt hurt to check with them.

Seven years is right. I checked with Dept of Education. They said medical leave due to disability should waive that problem.

I should sit down with my pastor on what to do with an MDiv. I do not feel qualified to be an assistant pastor. I need more time as a believer serving in a local church. I would like to write though. Biblical commentaries, apologetics, church history, and other subjects.

My classes taken are mainly theological courses, apologetics courses, and practical theology. What I am missing is my bible courses and how to communicate the bible to others.

For an MDIV, it requires about 800-1000 pages of reading, 2 class projects (2-3 pages) and a Final which is about 5-7 pages
    And Bible memory verses

    EX
    Doctrine of God verses include
    Gen 1:1
    Isaiah 6:
    Isaiah 49:13
    Jeremiah 10:10
    I Tim 1:17
    Psalm 23

There are about 6-7 more as well

You can start w this, ad well as some writing exercises. We can have the books to you in a few days

Yes. Problem is while they oppose abortion and homosexuality, they don't think the bible is inerrant. They love higher criticism, and believe the Old Testament is mostly fables. That the New Testament was written by many different authors writing in the names of the apostles.

OK, well ah there is a guy named Pastor Durant who was trained up by the Methodists... he posts on here occasionally. You might want to hook up with him. Believe me he is a great guy who might offer a few pointers.
