    Good evening -

There are a few points I would like to make about our reading in 2Samuel tonight. First of all in verse 5:6, the Jebusites seem rather cocky about David's inability to conquer Jerusalem. This boast was made on pretty good tactical grounds. Jerusalem was set on a plateau between the Kidron Valley, the Hedron Valley and sitting up on the Judean Mountains.
Also, David picked a very good, politically strategic location to unify the kingdoms. Jerusalem sits near the border of Benjamin and Judah, therefore not giving the appearance that one would be ruling over the other.
My last point is Michal's reaction to David's reception of the Ark. This shows us that David's priorities were set right and that he wasn't going to allow his position to influence his fervency. I have to wonder if the last verse in chapter 6 indicates that David and Michal's relationship degraded at that point to where they no longer had sex.

We read Marks account of the Last Supper tonight. This account is almost identical to the account in Matthew 26. The command for this ordinance to be repeated will not be cited until our reading in Luke.

We finished up 2Corinthians tonight as well. Paul tells the Corinthians that he is very much in earnest and his arrival will be accompanied with discipline. God granted Paul authority and Paul is very much able to exercise it if it builds up the church. The letter does end on a positive note, if somewhat abruptly.

    May God bless you

    - Clint
