The Wyoming Republican Party made good on their promise and yesterday voted to censure Rep. Liz Cheney for her January vote to impeach former president Donald Trump. Only eight of the 74 committee members voted against the measure, with the committee further calling on Cheney to resign immediately and repay donations the state GOP had made to her 2020 reelection campaign.

She does not show that she cares. Maybe she should join the Democrat party, I wonder if they would take her.

    Prove it. :Wink
Due to its relatively small population, Wyoming only has one representative in the U.S. Congress, thus giving that person outsized impact in Washington. Roughly 70% of Wyomingites voted for Trump in both 2016 and 2020, and a great number of those voters voiced their concerns about voting irregularities in the most recent presidential election.
    ...
“The consequence of Cheney’s actions has resulted in numerous Republicans in Wyoming, and across the United States, indicating they will either no longer actively participate in the Republican Party, are stepping down from Precinct Representative positions within the party, or have already changed their voter registration and left the party entirely.”

What seems far more telling is the national Rep response. They didn’t bother to replace her with someone more appropriate. It seems ever more obvious that the Reps don’t care for Trump, even if it means they destroy their party completely. But maybe they are hoping no one notices.

Last Wednesday, Cheney survived a vote by the House Republican Conference calling for her to be removed from her leadership position. Sixty-one of her colleagues voted for her to step down, but the remaining 145 Republicans voted to keep her in place.

These Bush people support constant war even when it becomes apparent that the wars cannot be won. They share that policy with the Democrats who presided over both world wars, Korea, and Vietnam. Trump supported an alliance of Sunni states and Israel against Iran. With energy independence, Trump wanted to build up NATO and check Chinese aggression while evacuating the forlorn Middle-East. He angered the Bush partisans by dismissing Jeb during the primaries. The fact of the matter is that with anti-globalist Trump in the White House the USA had a brief golden age of prosperity and freedom. Representative government cannot be transplanted. Every repressive government in Asia and Latin America calls themselves a republic, for example. The Bush-Cheney doctrine of nation building is kaput. I never cared for Cheney’s daughter. The nation no longer supports these endless wars. Our friends are now Eastern Europeans and pro-western Asians as well as English-speaking peoples. India is our friend against China.

You Democrats are not any better. Take the log out of your eye before talking about the speck in the eyes of others.

Yep. I call 'em like I see them.

The DNC claims to be "progressive" but to what end?

They have been destroying this nation for decades.

The party that helps to make people make a ton of money is the party I want to support. Alas both are focused on enriching themselves. Our problem is we don’t have enough .... ahhh forget it!

I disagree. The GOP (last term) gave us stimulus payments and tax cuts. They gave us a very good economy (pre-pandemic). I liked that Trump moved jobs back to the US (kinda went back on Clinton's China policy). But I don't think that personal economics is the determining factor in choosing a party.

Neither party is worth my vote. Not because my vote is so precious, but because both parties are so corrupt.

I didn’t receive any tax cuts in New Jersey and stimulus was just a drop in the bucket especially after you take people out of the work force but give millions to other countries and big business. The representative that brings jobs back to the area is the rep I will go with... unfortunately I haven’t seen any in years ( from either party).

I’m probably most impressed with Katie Porter, congressional rep in California... she at least try’s, and embarrassed the creeps in banking, government, the pharma industry etc. My Congress rep., not so much.

I did see tax benefits here. Perhaps it's the area. Trump did a lot for small businesses (even through COVID growth continued in our area, with new locally owned restaurants and shops opening).

The issue with the Biden agenda is not that tax breaks for the middle class will end but that taxes will be raised. I agree with the GOP that we cannot incentivize poverty and unemployment, but this seems to be what the DNC has done for decades. On the other hand, the GOP provides a good economic plan on paper but one that fails to address immediate needs.

I've used this illustration before, and I stick with it. The DNC tosses a float with a small leak to the drowning man and leads him away from the ship with promises of another leaking float to come. The GOP tells the drowning man the ship is fifty miles from his location and if he makes it he will live.

Neither party has a viable solution to the problems our nation faces. Part of this is inherit in any economy (even in the best economy people suffer; even in the worst economy people succeed).

Politics will never heal the World.

I just do not see that a third party will be a viable option.

There was a coup in January. I do not mean an attempted insurrection but a successful coup. It can be toppled, but the DNC is going to do everything it can to stay in power.

But what you are referring to with “coup” is a failed revolution. And in recognizing that initiative, also be aware that that increases the power of the State and larger revolutions make the State absolute. That is the objective throughout the world.
