"Establishing The Authority of Scripture."

It is needful to establish the authority of scripture.
Most worldly people are not reading it, so they do not know what it declares about itself.

 

Until I know you better Jacob59, why don't you say what it means first?
Besides I'm not sure what you have in mind, or even know if I could answer it anyway.

 

It is important to understand how people view scripture when you discuss what scripture says.

I had a professor once who told me he disagreed with Paul’s interpretation of the Old Testament.

He certainly understood what Paul had written, but he didn’t view it as having authority from God. In his mind, his opinion was just as valid as Paul’s.

When people have such an opinion of scripture, their purpose changes. They aren’t trying to understand it in the context it was written and apply it to people’s lives; they are trying to undermine it and convince people it doesn’t apply to their lives.

For some, it would appear, their sole purpose is to undermine the authority of scripture.

If a person does not know Christ as savior the bible can have no authority other than as any ancient set of documents.

You have started many threads, some of them contentious.

It appears you have an agenda.

How about stating that agenda or denying that you have one.

You don't even bother to say what you think of your own questions.

For some questions I ask I might have an opinion but for others I do not know for certain what the answers are.

Why should I trust you now with all this stuff you put up?

You have not even bothered to make a statement indicating what kind of faith in you have, if any.

All I can assume is that you know something about the bible but your faith is in yourself.

I'm a "non-Baptist Christian" too but my faith is in Jesus Christ, who died in my place and rose again from the dead as it is written according to the scriptures.
