What would be a good KJV reference Bible. I don't want a study Bible, just a very high quality, large, but not giant, print. Cross reference and some translation footnotes, but not full study Bible. Preferably red letter edition.
I am not KJV only. I just want a new KJV Bible that's not a study Bible.

Thanks. Will have to look at one. It's been years since I actually handled one.

It has sort of word studies in the margins.
For example, the word Joy might be in the verse....so in the margin it will tell you the next place you can find the word

Then you can look in the back and the word has a 4 digit number, you look it up and it will list several other verses that have the word.
Helpful outline of all the books in the back.

The KJV text in the 1964 Thompson’s Chain Reference Bible [Fourth Improved Edition] differs in some places from the KJV text in the 2007 Thompson’s Chain Reference Bible [Fifth Improved Edition]. A few variations or differences are found between the KJV text in a 1957 Thompson’s Third Improved edition and that in a 1964 Fourth Improved Edition.

In its KJV text, the 2007 Thompson's Chain Reference Bible [Fifth Improved Edition] had reintroduced the same error at Exodus 6:21 that was introduced in the 1769 Oxford edition of the KJV and that remained in most Oxford and Cambridge editions for 100 years.

I like the Thomas Nelson References Notes, and their Comfort Print font for the KJV is super nice.

Thank you for this post. I was not aware of the changes. I have several different ones. I will have to examine and contrast some key texts.

The Webster Bible, but it not really a KJV Bible as much as a translation in 19th century from the KJV by Noah Webster. It is like a cross between the NKJV and KJV but closer to the KJV.

Plus all chapters are in Roman numerals.

I recently purchased a Thompson Chain KJV from Church Bible Publishers. This is not a advertisement for them but my lambskin covered Bible is an absolute beauty, premium binding and very well priced. I had to wait for them to put them into stock but I think they are available now. They have other editions but only KJV. Another source I have purchased an Old Schofield from Local Church Bible Publishers, these are also premium bound and decent pricing although slightly higher than the previously mentioned source. Both of these sources produce Bibles that compare well and in some respects better than Allan, Cambridge and Schuyler, of which I have examples of in my collection, at half the cost. Plenty of youtube reviews of these sources.

The Thompson Chain that I have purchased from them (Church Bible Publisher CBP) is from just about two months ago, The text block was printed 2021 by Kirkbride in the USA. A side by side comparison between the now defunct Kirkbride bindings and the CBP there is actually no quality comparison, different league but similar pricing.
