Jesus Christ Worshipped As Almighty God

It is clear from the Bible, that Worship is only for the Lord God Almighty, as we read in the Ten Commandments:

“I [am] the Lord your God…You shall have no other gods besides Me…you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, [am] a jealous God” (Exodus 20:1, 3, 5)

And, in Exodus 34:14, “for you shall Worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God”

In Psalm 95:6 it says, “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker”

“By myself have I sworn, the word is gone forth from my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear” (Isaiah 45:23)

Jesus Christ Himself taught that Worship was for God alone.

“Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve” (Matthew 4:10)

We also know from the Bible, that any “Worship” of humans is forbidden:

“As Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshipped him. But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I myself am also a man.”” (Acts 10:25-26)

“And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”” (Revelation 19:10)

“ Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”” (revelation 22:8-9)

However, in the Book of Hebrews we read of God the Father, Who Commands His angels to Worship Jesus Christ.

“But when He again brings the Firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God Worship Him” (Hebrews 1:6)

This verse is one of the strongest for the Deity of Jesus Christ, as it is by the Father Himself, to Worship His Son. This would not be possible if Jesus Christ is not Himself Almighty God.

Some, like the Jehovah’s Witnesses, have tried to remove this Testimony of Worship of Jesus Christ, as directed by God the Father, by rendering this verse, “And let

all of God’s angels do obeisance to him.” (New World Translation). In their Kingdom Interlinear Greek New Testament, published in 1969, in the English translation in the right hand column, they use “worship”. However, in their 1985 edition, it has been changed to “obeisance”. In their 1942 Emphatic Diaglott, another Greek NT, it reads, “And let All God's Angels worship him”. The Unitarian New Testaments by George Noyes and William Newcome, they use “homage”. This wilful corruption of what the Bible actually says, is clear, when these use “worship” to translate the Greek “προσκυνέω”, for the Father, and “obeisance” or “homage”, when it is used for Jesus Christ. This has nothing to do with being honest with the Greek, but reflects the “theology” of these who oppose the full Deity of Jesus Christ.

The verse in Hebrews has not reference in the Hebrew Masoretic Text, but there are two verses in the Old Testament, where the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the Septuagint, are clearly from where this Hebrews quote if from.

The Dead Sea Scrolls (DSS) in Deuteronomy 32:43 reads:

“Rejoice, O heavens, together with him; and bow down to him all you gods, for he will avenge the blood of his sons, and will render vengeance to his enemies, and will recompense those who hate him, and will atone for the land of his people.”

And the Greek Old Testament, the Septuagint (LXX):

“Rejoice, heavens, with him, And let all the angels of God worship him: Rejoice, nations, with his people, And let all the children of God rely on him: For he avengeth the blood of his children, And will judge, and execute vengeance on his enemies, To them who hate him he will render retribution, And the Lord will purify the land of his people”

The Hebrew Masoretic Text (MT) reads:

“O nations, acclaim His people! For He'll avenge the blood of His servants, wreak vengeance on His foes, And cleanse the land of His people”

It is clear that the reading of the DSS, which is Hebrew, and that of the LXX, shows that the LXX used a Hebrew text that is similar to that of the DSS

And, again in the LXX of Psalm 96:7, we read, “ Let all that worship graven images be ashamed, who boast of their idols; worship Him, all ye His angels”. The DSS is incomplete here.

There are a number of passages in the Gospels, where Jesus Christ is directly Worshipped, and not once did He say that this should not be done to Him.

Matthew 8:2, “And behold, a leper came and worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”; 9:18, “While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshipped Him, saying”; 14:33, “Then those who were in the boat came and worshipped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.””; 15:25, “Then she came and worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!””; Luke 24:52, “And they, after worshipping Him, returned to Jerusalem with great joy”. Even at the Birth of Jesus Christ, the Wise Men said: “Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we saw his star in the east, and are come to Worship Him”.

In the Book of Revelation, we read in chapter 5:

“And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, the Blessing, and the Honour, and the Glory, and the Might, be to Him that sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb for ever and ever. And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and Worshipped” (vs. 13-14)

All THE Blessing and THE Honour and THE Glory and THE Might, belong to “Him that sits on the Throne”, AND “to The Lamb”, Jesus Christ, “forever and ever”. And they are BOTH WORSHIPPED TOGETHER. No “subordination” of Jesus Christ to God the Father, as some heretically teach. Further, we read in Revelation chapter 22:1, “And he showed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb”. Here “Throne” is in the singular, “θρόνου”, as for the Joint-Reign of BOTH The Father and Jesus Christ. This is further seen in verse 3, where it says, “There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him”. Here we have the singular “θρόνου” used, and “αὐτοῦ”, also singular, “His bond-servants”; and “will serve Him (αὐτῷ, singular). No doubt referring to BOTH The Father and Jesus Christ EQUALLY.

Evidence from the Bible that is beyond any doubt, that Jesus Christ is 100% COEQUAL to God the Father, and is Himself the Eternal Yahweh.

We can thus state that the Commander of the Lord's Army is therefore none other than Jesus, God the Son.

    Joshua 5:13-15

When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the Lord. Now I have come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?” And the commander of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.
