Do you ever boycott, write letters, make phone calls, sign petitions, etc. to show companies and / or politicians that Christian / Family values are important to you?

I have written letters to my senators and my representative, when issues arise I believe need to be address such as legislation on something such as on abortion or something.

For about 39 years i've boycotted Florida
Orange Juice. Anitia Bryant was the spokes
lady for the Florida Orange Juice Association.
She also spake in religious circles against
homosexuals. The Florida Orange Juice Asso.
fired her. Is anybody else boycotting
Florida Orange Juice? Yea! Texas Orange Juice!

I'm an avid Science Fiction Fan. But i never
let the works of L. Ron Hubbard into my house.
    L. Ron Hubbard is a false prophet who started
    Scienc-o-tology (or something like that?)
a markedly false religious-like con game.
It is said in S.F. circles that L. Ron Hubbard
was a hack S.F. writer who couldn't make
a living. One day he told his friends he
was working on a book that would make
him a millionare (and it did). He wrote the
book that is called by the name of his
false religion. Later, after the million,
he had members of his fleeced flock write
his S.F. for him. That S.F. will never come
into my house. Is anybody else boycotting
    L.Ron Hubbard books?

We did try having a forum here on the BB for Christian Activism, yet it started off well but slowly ground down to being one of the slowest moving forums on the BB, the threads are probably in the archive somewhere.

Rarely do I participate in boycotts.

Come on Ed! A 39 year-old boycott against Florida orange juice??? There's no impact there!
(Still I too am a SF addict. Yet I have never read L. Ron Hubbard for the same reasons as you mention!)

I did write to Strawbridges a while back to complain about an obsene product that was being marketed to teens that included promotional material sent to my house.

I told them I would not enter their store for the remainder of the Christmas season.

I received an apology and have noticed that the product is no longer being marketed. ...I still don't shop there, but then other than Barnes and Noble and Home Depot there really aren't any stores that I shop in. :D

If we would use that time protesting to winning the lost to Christ we would not have to protest. We should change lives not policy

It's not only possible, it's commanded. To neglect either is a sin against God.

I know where Patrick is coming from.....I'm sure there are people out there who never share their faith but who spend plenty of time picketing, protesting, etc. for "Christian" causes.

But when you can spend less than a minute to send an e-mail or make a phone call to a company or a politician to let them know that you stand for family values...and especially when organizations like the American Family Association make it so easy to do with their e-mail "action alerts"....I have to wonder why wouldn't you do it?

Please drink Florida orange juice. BTW, much better than Mexican or California juices.

That's true, but it cuts both ways. In fact, the reason America is in the shape it is is because Christians have hid in their churches and "witnesses", while neglecting our culture, institutions, and politics.

You could convert 100% of the polulation to faith in Christ, and if you ignored the workings of society and government, our nation would still be a mess.

Or, you could put the very best men in office, and reform our institutions, but without personal faith in Christ, it would all go down quickly.

It's not a choice between the two. That is like saying "do you want food or water"? Both are essential.
