Can a SBC chaplain be effective while staying true to SBC values

    I did a quick read. The story is from 2013.

    I’m curious about one statement n the article. It stated that if a SBC Chaplin lost the endorsement of the national convention, they would be forced to resign their commission in the military.

    I would be stunned if that were true, but I admit I don’t know.

    Do you know if that’s true?

    Yes it is.
    two other options -
    1) find another denomination to endorse
    2) find another     career field - for example - lets say before you became a chaplain - you were a supply-man - then the Army may allow you to transfer to Quartermaster.

    as far as a Chaplain loosing his denomination - that goes for any denomination -

    Well, you learn something new all the time.

    That does present a real conundrum, doesn’t it? Given the militaries official position on certain issues, a SBC Chaplin might resign out of conscience anyway.

    Can a Chaplin who is sponsored by the SBC option out and take on the mantle of an independent Baptist, or as some are now calling it “non-affiliated” Baptist?

    There are many endorsing groups
    https://prhome.defense.gov/M-RA/MPP/AFCB/Endorsements/

    If you cant find one - look with a different order of the name -
    for Example the GARBC is listed as:
    Regular Baptist churches, General Association.


    and since the Web address is ".gov" then it is an official DOD link.

    I looked up the list Salty posted. The Gospel Fellowship Assoc. is not listed. However, the Foundations (formerly the Fundamental) Baptist Fellowship International is.
