Reminds me of something I heard a while back, a group of monkey's set off dynamite in a printing plant and the results were a dictionary... Brother Glen:Biggrin

The OP looks like an inside joke with an oxymoron punchline. "BBC Science"?

The Wikipedia article is about where that monkey business idea came from. The BBC article was about a monkey experiment based on the monkey business. And the idea for thread I got based on something @Van posted which otherwise made no sense as to why he posted it.

Speaking about Monkey's I heard a preachers say this... Some say that I had some ancestors swinging from the trees?... Well I know one thing I didn't have any ancestors swinging from the trees but can't say I didn't have some hanging from them... To you brethren on here, I believe I posted this before but we have new blood on here, so here it is again... Evolution from a Monkey's perspective... Enjoy!... Brother Glen:)

    The Monkey's Disgrace

Three monkeys sat in a coconut tree
Discussing things as they’re said to be.
Said one to the others: “Now listen you two,
There’s a certain rumour that can’t be true
That man descended from our noble race –
Why, the very idea is a disgrace!

“No monkey ever deserted his wife,
    Starved her babies and ruined her life;
And you’ve never known a mother monk
Leave her babies with others to bunk,
Or pass them on from one to another
‘Til they scarcely know who is their mother.

“And another thing you’ll never see –
A monk build a fence round a coconut tree,
Forbidding all other monks to taste
And letting the coconuts go to waste.
Why! if I built a fence round a coconut tree
Starvation would force you to steal from me.

    “Here’s another thing a monk won’t do:
Go out at night and get in a stew,
Or use a gun or club or knife
To take some other monkey’s life.
Yes, man descended, the ornery cuss,
But brother he didn’t descend from us!”

The actual issue is disregarding differing probabilities, giving credence to the far lesser risk. Once a probability reaches a low level, say one in 10 million, shouldn't intelligent people disregard the risk? Yes, but do they? Nope.

Here is a link discussing that people are motivated by fear rather than risk.

    Neglect of probability - Wikipedia

For example, the risk of Covid is higher than the risk of adverse consequences from vaccination. But a significant number of people have decided not to get vaccinated, or have the children vaccinated.
