Which Bible Version Do You Use?

I use all of them, but mainly the NIV and NASB.

 

Without being able to choose multiple choices, I could not vote. I would vote KJV, CLV, and NA27.

 

I use NIV, HCSB, and others as I study. My pastor generally uses NIV in worship.

KJV but refer to the Geneva and the NKJV on occasion.

 

KJV - odd that the majority checked KJV, yet it seems the KJVs are constantly bashed on this board.

 

I have never seen a KJV bashed on this board. I have seen a false, man-made doctrine about the KJV bashed on this board.

 

I primarily use the ESV, but i also utilize the HCSB, KJV, NASB, NKJV and NIV on a regular basis and will at times preach from those also (most preaching from ESV).
I will sometimes utilize the NLT and the Message from time to time also.

 

I can't find any threads that bash the KJV. There are numerous threads denouncing KJVOism, though, which is a right and worthy thing for anyone who loves the KJV to do. I myself often use the KJV, and will staunchly defend it from any person who attempts to make a false doctrine out of it.

 

Defending the KJV involves defending against false doctrine about it. It is not "bashing" the virgin Mary to oppose false doctrine about her, and it is not "bashing" the KJV to oppose false doctrine about it.

The various versions prior to the KJV had been around for over 1500 years before folks decided that God's Word needed "improvement".

 

That's exactly what those who denounce KJVOism are doing. They are defending the KJV from the added doctrine of KJVOism. Completely worthy and noble for those who voted KJV to do.

Not exactly. The KJV1769 was in popular use for about 120 years before other translations came into favor. The KJV1769 has not been the #1 translation for over 20 years.

 

In the tradition of our spiritual forefathers here in the states (the Pilgrims), I do not use the "King's" Bible.

KJVOism is wrong. Personally I never understood it. Just one of those things I guess.

The KJV is most accurate translation over modern versions because of 4-fold superiority: Translators, Texts, Technique and Theology. The KJV is the Word of God of God-breathed, God-preserved, Hebrew & Greek texts that underlied it.

 

Hi guys.
I guess if I could only have one, it would be the KJV. I also use the NASB, and ever-so-often the NIV. I don't have any real strong convictions about any version, as long as people are reading their bibles.
It's all about communication to me.
My God is powerful enough to speak through any version!
I like my KJV for the poetic beauty of the language -- which is also a help in verse memorization. And it is the version I started my Christian walk with.

Really??? Please explain each of the four.

1. How were the translators superior to today's translators? Were they better educated? Did they have a superior knowledge of Greek and Hebrew?
2. How were the texts superior to the texts used in today's translation? Do more modern translations not use the same texts?
3. What technique was used in the translation of the KJV? How is this technique different and superior to the techniques used in more modern translations?
4. How was the theology of the Anglicans superior to the theology of the Christians who have worked on the more modern translations? Is it because they were better Christians? Is is because you agree with Anglican doctrine?

I have never heard of this. What do you mean? Are you saying that the KJV translation is the actual, inspired word of God? If so, please give Scriptural proofs or some reason why you would believe this.

Also, what about other languages? If there is a "special" English translation, do you have special Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese, etc. translations too? Or, does this apply to English only?

Baptizo is translated in Dutch and German into dopen and taufen respectively and still most denominations in those countries sprinkle instead of immerse.

 

My most used Bible at this point in time is the NBV.
The reason many of you have never heard of it before is not because it is a very obscure translation, it just isn't an English one.
