Today - 29 years ago - (27 Apr) the funeral for President Nixon was held.
Nixon had died on 22 Nov. All five of his successors attended his funeral.
Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton,

Mr. Nixon was certainly flawed, as those oval office tapes clearly demonstrate, but let us not forget "Deep Throat" was the FBI swamp dweller that charted the way for the FBI to damage if not destroy the reputation of Mr. Trump.

Mr. Nixon was a "globalist" rather than a MAGA republican. He unleashed the EPA upon free enterprise, including the "taking of land" by denying its use for this or that. He went to China, and started the ball rolling toward a mistaken China policy. And he continued sending troops to Viet Nam, knowing, as the prior Democrat administration had known, that our military strategy could not succeed.

Sadly, I voted for him twice, not having a better (Trump-like) choice. I also voted for the Bush candidates (41 & 43) four times. My bad, but I was clueless as to how "America First" policy would "Make America Great Again."

Gee, I thought the military strategy was the insane "Search and Destroy" program that did not take and hold ground. Nor were the North's supply lines cut via bombing of the harbor or supply lines via Cambodia or rail from China. OTOH, we did not have "smart" bombs so we blew up a lot of jungle without harming the enemy.

And all this points back to the mistake by Mr. Johnson to engage in a ground war is Asia.

    So the question is:
We won a land war in Europe
But lost a wear in Nam

    What was the difference

Talk about fighting losing battles, correcting punctuation, spelling and grammar on the Internet, or even on this board, would rank way up there. Peace, brother. :Wink

Fear the other side would use Nukes!!

Wars do not last long if they are fought to win, and then exit. Proxy wars can last forever with no end.

Korea, Viet Nam, Afghanistan, can be lost, just vote in the cut and run Democrats. OTOH, with stand off smart weapons, there is no need to put ground troops in harm's way in Korea, Europe, or Taiwan.

One more note on the FBI political assassination of Mr. Nixon. Recall Mr Hoover died May 2, 1972 and then Mr. Nixon replaced his long time cohort, Mr Tolson with Mr. Gray on May 3, 1972. But the "poison tree of corruption" had many more branches, "Deep Throat" being just one of them.
