    Hello,

A friend from my church recently lost her husband due to a heart attack. She is a very young, widow now with four children to rear on her own. She is really struggling right now. I would like to do all I can do to help her. I am posting this in the fundamental section because that's what we are....would like any sources of help for her that uses the KJV. I would really like to get her a book on the subject. So far I have found her a message boards to talk to other young widows...but have not found any for young Chrisitan widows. If anybody can help I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

How awful for your friend. Was the husband saved?

It seems to me the best help you can get your friend is in the Bible and through the church.

Being there for her, praying with her, maybe offering to do something for her, babysit etc.
Maybe her church can help her out with some other things and maybe your pastor knows where she can get help spiritually.

If you don't mind may I have her first name and where she is from, I would like to pray for her and her children.

Does she also attend an IFB church? I assume your IFB, forgive me if I am wrong.

This is so sad, I am very sorry for her loss. She will have difficults roads to travel, but the Lord will get her through.

Not written by a Fundamentalist, and he was probably unaware of a KJV onlyism, but CS Lewis lost his wife to, I think it was cancer. He wrote "A Grief Observed." Its not very long, and it may be helpful for her to "spend time" with someone who has gone through the same thing she has. Another one I would suggest is "The Pleasures of God," by John Piper. He shows us that God delights in the hard things for a reason, and we should too.

Thank you so much for your help everybody. Her name is Suzanne. Her husband was saved, yes. He loved his family and gave his testimony about how happy he was that his kids were saved. He was a very sensitive, strong Christian man as from what I could see. Very devoted to the Lord and serving him. She is seeking Christian counselling outside of the church...I think my pastor has a hard time helping out with touchy subjects...he is also busy with 5 little kids. But I know he should be offering help. She gave a testimony tonight saying how she is so thankful for all that God has provided her, in the midst of pity that she is feeling. I really admire her strength, but I dont think she is always going to feel that way...you get ups and downs with this sort of thing. We are human and she misses her husband, going to bed alone, no father to rear the children, having to be the one that has all the financial responsibility, etc. I am praying for her and I appreciate all of you keeping her and the kids in your prayers. His name was Tony and they really want his family to get saved so please pray for them also (they are devot Catholics). Yes we both attend an IFB church and a wonderful one at that. Thank you very much for the book ideas I will get her those books!
