Who is Ray Comfort? I just got his book titled "How To Win Souls & Influence People".

Is this book reliable? Is Ray Comfort a Baptist?
I'm very selective with Christian books, I don't know much about the author but the title got my attention.

Do you know of any reliable books on evangelism? I heard Ray Stamford book titled "Personal Evangelism" is a good classic.

If anyone knows anything negative about Ray Comfort or his book, please let me know.

    God Bless!!

From what I have read and seen of Comfort he is solid. I am not sure if he is baptist or not. He and Kirk Cameron have an evangelistic ministry together I think the book would be a worthwhile read.

You can find out more about Comfort at:

    www.wayofthemaster.com

Here are some other good books on evangelism:

    * Introduction to Evangelism by Alvin Reid

    * Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God by J.I. Packer

    * The Master Plan of Evangelism by Robert Coleman

    * Telling the Truth: Evangelizing Postmoderns Edited by D.A. Carson

I have no clue what denomination Ray Comfort is either...but he is a great evangelism resource and what i have heard from him or read by him seems to be "baptistic" (that is such a weird word to me).

I, like you, am very discerning about what Christian books I read.

As far as Ray Comfort, I can't recommend him highly enough. He's very genuine, and very effective. You might not agree with 100% of everything he says (no one agrees with anyone 100%), but most of what he says is very dead on and useful.

</font>[/QUOTE]Ray Comfort was born of a Jewish mother, which by rabbinic standards, would make him Jewish. He once said publicly that his acceptance of Christ greatly upset his mother. He always presents an interesting show, that is for sure.

Ray Comfort deals with salvation in a very Biblical manner. I've heard that he is a Wesleyan although I'm not sure if he is or isn't. Regardless of denomination, his teachings on salvation are true to Scripture and is a blessing to hear/read. Hell's Best Kept Secret is something that should be heard by all Christians.

Someone said somewhere that Wesleyans are Methodists, but aren't they an offshoot of the Methodists? I don't think they are exactly the same anymore.

Wesleyans still preach the gospel. The mainline Methodists are soo far off left field that they are just dead protestanism. It's more of a social club than anything else.

I think Wesleyans are what Methodists were before Methodists became what they are now....

I was curious about both his and Cameron's denomination... or more importantly their broader theological beliefs since denomination means so little these days.

The greatest thing about Ray Comfort that I like is that he speaks with a loving heart, and never lets a harsh word leave his mouth.

It is interesting how he can tell someone they've just admitted to being a lying, blaspheming, adulterous, murderer in a very loving and non-offensive way. ;)

    Absolutely correct, Scott J.

Most of us can't say "whassup" without being offensive. I don't know how he does it. It's gotta be a spiritual gift.

Ray Comfort is a straight shooter. He is a great evangelist (in my opinion). He can really share the Gospel.

He has my full endorsement (like my recommendation matters).

I saw an episode where Ray was in Israel, and this orthodox guy got really angry at him for preaching, and started spitting at him and cursing him. He just kept on preaching. Then the guy went after Ray's camera guy trying to get rid of the film. Ray never got mad or missed a beat. I do not know much about his theology, but his courage is evident.
