Not a Phil Donahue fan and 99.9% of the time don't watch but I'm also a channel surfer of the worse degree and caught the TOPIC: IS JESUS the ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN?
THey had a Baptist, two other Christians, and a Rabbi.

The Rabbi which is the second in two days I heard speak basically stated that living a good live and being a good citizen in this life is all that matters and the rest is up to GOD. And got very loud at any mention that Christ is the only way he got Irrate and called those doomsdayers, narrow minded people that want to scare people.

The Baptist pastor past Pres of SBC stuck to his guns and kept giving the gospel message which at times was heckled from the crowd and Phil was arrogant and condesending to the Christian guest and speakers.

Phil said he knows all about God because he went to a Catholic school and he basically wasn't buying that their is only one way to heaven.

A Jewish woman asked if a serial killer that came to Christ would go to heaven but those Jews like those that died in the Holocaust wouldn't.
    She didn't like the answer.

ANother guy tried to post the desert island scenario also.

Overall 90% of those that spoke or commented including Phil and Rabbi had the opinion that all are going to heaven and how could you Christians be so narrowminded and hateful.

    The
Christian on the back screen kept asking Phil to repent and accept the free gift of salvation but of course PHIL already has all the answers.

Love to hear others comments that saw the show

    May God Bless

    Jon

I caught about the last half.

The SBC guy was Al Mohler, president of Southern Seminary.

The professor from Union Theological Seminary was a classic example of the bankruptcy of liberal Protestantism. Who was the guy between the Union Professor and the rabbi? He seemed quiet, but solid.

"Flip" from Operation Rescue seemed doctrinally sound but a tad "flippant."

FLIP was 120% too in your face coming off way to strong but exact message!

The professor stated that he didn't take the bible literal and that it was more of a guide to live life on Earth.

He is the second to say that A Lutheran on the Pastor Round table said that he didn't believe Revelations , that he didn't believe Christ was coming back in Physical form from the heavens and other parts were not Literal also and that they didn't fit with Modern time and that this generation would never "buy" into the Book of Revelations........... BAD news for that flock HE IS COMING AGAIN.

Not sure who the middle guy was but a good messenger he gave the Gospel calmly and without conflict to the over volumed Rabbi.

i watched the show also, the topic was very good. the so called theologian was actually against the bible and felt all good people were going to heaven. it was interesting that people actually thought that thinking and teaching others that the only way to heaven through Christ was a violent predisposition to persecute all who dont believe like wise, they blamed Christians for the inquisition, and the holocaust. they compared Christians to the KKK. Phil also let some caller through that was typical stereo type of intolerant with no sophistication, i think the caller said something like " if ya dont believen in Jezusss you goin straight to heell".

I heard about this on BBN this morning but I did not get to see it. I am glad that at least one of these men had the opportunity to give the Gospel on national television and I wish I could have seen it.

the over volumed rabbi was not even doctrinally correct with his own religion.
i would say the rabbi sounded more like a universalist

Not only did I watch it, but I recorded it. It is a great tool to have.

Did anyone wonder why the Rabbi could not answer the direct question at the end?

The Union guy is a classic example of a form of godliness but denying its power.

The guy between the Rabbi and Union rep was a Messianic Jew.

I recorded the event because I knew Mohler would toast anyone who questioned the gospel.

I am curious as to how those on here such as Josh and Post-it felt about it.

The Messianic Jew was Michael Brown, president of ICN Ministries His Homepage
I just found the home page but if you want info on him this might be a place to start

What about the lady in the audience who said "I'm a Christian but I also believe in reincarnation"

one more thought about the donahue show, in my opinion the worst enemy of the cross was probably the liberal theologian, the reason being here is supposedly a man who has studied Gods word, and he denies the sufficiency of the cross, in fact he only believes that being a good person makes you heaven bound, heck i am not so sure he believes a heaven exist.

    Masdak,

The Lutheran on the Round Table didn't say Heaven he said return from the COSMOS. To tell people of this modern day that Christ will physically return in some magical way from the COSMOS is just not practical. I paraphrased his words but that was about it.

The Rabbi on the Round table discussion of the end times said that the Messiahiac Age would start when the Jews lived in Peace.

The Baptist and Seven Day Adventist on the program (Not Donahue but the Round table) both held firm and said that CHrist will return literally as it states in the book of Revelations. Then rebuked the Lutheran by saying that Christ birth was a "magical" appearance of God from Heaven, and his ascention into Heaven was a "magical" moment so why wouldn't His return be that much or more.

It was amazing that both programs had basically the same players saying the same things and how both times the Baptist pastor was the one not wavering but giving the GOSPEL.

    Glory to God

I only was able to catch the last half or so. Anyone know when the repeat will be?

It is getting pretty scary out there when us Christians are in the minority when it comes down to how we get to heaven.

As a new regular attendee to a local IFB in Hawaii, I am just starting to get back to a daily prayer, devotional, and read the Bible lifestyle so I still don't have every answer for every naysayer, but I hope and pray our missionaries continue to spread the gospel to the max.

I use to think that 90% of the World would go to heaven as it seemed Jesus was mentioned all the time, but now his name is being used and said less and less and I am afraid the number of folks going to hell is increasing daily.

I'm glad there are still those willing to stand up and speak the TRUTH even when they know they will be ridiculed for it. It sounds like Mohler did a good job standing up for his beliefs. I hope they will air it again so I can see the whole show.
