I just want to say that the KJV has been a precious book to me. It has been a comfort to in times of distress and it have been a source of encouragement me when I needed encouragement most. From time to time I have been critizied for my strong stand but I will continue to stand tall and strong for the precious Word of God. How do you feel about God's Word helping you in a time of distress or discouragement?

Version preferences aside, God's Word is "a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." It is God's inerrant, infallable, inspired Word on which we can live and breathe and have our being. It has a sanctifying power that is beyond words to describe. Without the Word of God, where would we be? I hate to think of it.

I've found balm for my troubled soul in God's Word so many times that I've lost count. It is the compass by which this weary traveler finds the true path through this world.

As do 99% of us here. However, I sense an agenda present, by the titling of the thread "KJV" and your qualification of the KJV as The Word of God. The Word of God existsin , and is, every reliable translation of Scripture.

The KJV has been precious to my soul. Maybe it hasn't touched you or your life but it has touched my life. So if you get a blessing out of some other book that is fine but I just wanted to express my joy of the preciousness of God's God and how it has blessed my soul.

    Me too Rev Sam.

For many years of my life, I walked through the shadow of the valley of death.
Though I am not KJVO, the Lord used the Psalms of the KJV to deliver me from my personal hell.

Psalm 40:1 {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

I too have found the KJV to be very comforting. In fact, I have a Cambridge wide margin that is falling apart. I love that old Bible. However, in recent years, I have found a new love for God and his Word in the NASB, and even moreso, in the NIV. For me, it was like reading the old stories all over again for the first time. Things came to life; stories and characters jumped off the page. The Psalms encourage me and aid me in my worship like the KJV never did. I am thankful for the KJV and its influence on millions. I rejoice that people love it. I am also thankful for modern translations that communicate that same life-changing message in today's language.

I receive blessings many ways every day, but I do not receive a blessing from "some other book", but from God's perfect word, the Bible, be it ESV, NASB, or NKJV.

I respect any brother or sister on here to read the version they want. I'm strict KJV and I have eight of them... One belong to my Dad and one to my Grandfather... My wife has one and the rest are mine. That is not the reason I love it though but have searched out its history and those bibles leading up to it... I've searched its ancestors. I know this for a fact no matter what version of the Bible you read... Even the KJV... It can NEVER impart eternal life... Search the scriptures for in them ye think ye have eternal life and they are they which testify of ME!... Brother Glen [IMG]

I love reading from my KJV! I've read/owned TEV, NIV, & NRSB and learned from them I believe. But, the Bible has come to life for me in the KJV. Sometimes I feel like I'm there (what I'm reading about) I never felt that connected with any of my previous Bibles. I love the praising and worshipful tone of the KJV!

I can't say I'm KJV only, because I don't know enough about translation, but is sure appears to be more excellent to me than any other version I've read. No offense to anyone who likes other versions.

I am not saying that other people can't get blessed from one or more of the other versions. What I am trying to express is that I have felt a special blessedness from my KJV. It has also been a source of comfort and it has become very precious to me. I am not a KJV ONLY guy but I just love the KJV so much and it is the only version I use. It is sweet!!! My Web Site

I am KJV all the way, but I have looked into other versions and there are some things that shocked me. So just as Ahab tried to take Naboths vineyard I have to say you cannot offer me a better one to replace it I quote:1 Kings 21:3 The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.

If he uses the KJV then he is firmly grounded. [IMG]

    Hi Bro Jeff:

Let's take the NKJV for instance. What is offensive to you about that version? Just curious.

    thx,
    kman

Like the Mormons? Or maybe, Peter Ruckman with his 3 living wives, one of whom he took from one of his members? Or maybe Jack Hyles who covered up his and his son's sexual scandals and also turned the souls of bus kids into a cheap numbers game?

Using the KJV does not prevent someone from being well grounded nor does it guarantee that they are.

I find the KJV and the NKJV, the versions that I am most comfortable with though I enjoy using other translations also.
