In addition to this, we can also use some of the junk mail we get. You know how some of them have a return envelope in them that doesn't need postage? Put a salvation tract in it and send it back!

Oh, I like that! I've ordered my stamp today (Office Depot) and it will say:

God is good, ALL the time!

    Ransom:

my oh my, you rage against spiritual things...
allow me to throw some things your way that may convince you of the greatness of this idea

    1. Last week 15 vending machines in New York were saved, 8 cola machines, 5 cigarette machines (praise God!) and 2 bubble gum machines.

    2. Money is no longer the root of all evil. Instead it is now the power unto salvation! (Praise Jesus!) I am encouraging all Christians to join Amway (those few who haven't already)and really start hitting up on your friends to buy stuff. Amway is the perfect outlet for the Jesus is the Answer project. Not only that Ransom, but as more and more Christians get involved and more money changes hands, the USA will once again become not only spiritually but ECONOMICALLY the greatest country on earth. (Give us this day our daily bread! Praise Jesus!)

    3. No longer does one need to spend all of 5 minutes using the lengthy and time consuming Romans Road to get one saved. Now when my wife sends me shopping right before half-time ends, I can combine work with witnessing by using my Jesus is the answer dollars for the case of Pringles and dip! And still get home for 2nd half kick-off without all the guilt of missing Thursday night evangelism (Praise Jesus!!)

    4. Think of the applications the "Jesus is the Answer" project could have in public school math classes! I am going to tell my children to shout it out anytime their math teacher grades homework in class. This way, not only will the student and teacher in class have their curiousity aroused as to Jesus, but I am sure so also will the School principal and school Psychologist!

Now I do see an inherent weakness in the plan. Men like Michael Jordan and Bill Gates and King Farouk will not be attracted by and may never see a dollar bill. So I would like to extend the project.
I feel called to reach the millionaires of the world. I would like all of you that have a burden for the lost to send me your 50's and 100 dollar bills. I will (out of my personal expense) but little stampers and pass out these bills to the mighty of the world.
In the truest sense of the world, let us cast our bread on the waters!!

Wow, a little harsh aren't we guys? I understand this idea may not be the key to millions receiving Christ but it won't hurt either. It's funny, I try and imagine Christ's response to an idea that someone has and just can't imagine Him with cynicism dripping from a grinning mouth...but hey that's just me.

I’ve seen this thread several times, and the other website for this “project” given in this thread. I felt the very same way as Ransom, and apparently Paul, when I read it. Combine this thread with the one about hiding tracts in toilet paper rolls, and I shake my head in disbelief. Combine the two concepts and we could stamp the same things on toilet paper. Is the money stamping or toilet paper witnessing evil? Don’t think so but both are pretty tacky to say the least.

Uncle Alagator questioned if Jesus would react as that guy Paul did? Probably not with the same humorous sarcasm BUT Jesus told stories with a NASTY BITE to the religious leaders of His day (they were not laughing when He was done). Since they would not listen to reason, He led them into a story that jacked their jaws with its conclusion. Turning his question around, I try to imagine Jesus and the disciples being so giddy about stamping “Discover Jesus, etc” on Roman currency. Jesus and those others gave their lives to let that gospel message (need and answer) roll off their tongues and pens.

If your dollar bill makes it out to where I am a missionary, please tell me what good it will do? Just about everyone in the place I minister calls themselves a Christian. Why? Because they go to church services, pretend to keep the commandments, have been baptized, and have given up drinking and smoking (in public). All of these would agree that Jesus is the answer. All would say they have discovered Jesus. You’d probably even get some of them to join in and stamp money with the same remarks. Problem is they don’t have a clue what the questions are? The answer means nothing until the problem cannot be completed with nothing but the right answer. It’s man’s problem that is most hard to get across AND IS NECESSARY before the answer will be of any eternal use.

Is this project evil? Of course not. Does it seem really tacky from this missionary’s perspective? Yes. Case in point. On the other website one person talks about the possibility of getting in trouble for stamping US currency. They said something to the effect of, “I’m willing to suffer for Jesus and get in trouble for doing this.” Too bad they don’t have that same zeal to personally take the complete gospel to perishing sinners.

I don't understand the antagonism and sarcasm toward this idea. :( If you think it's tacky and/or silly, then you could easily dismiss it as being tacky and/or silly, and disregard it entirely. Why is it necessary to criticize? Why is is necessary to stomp on the enthusiasm of others?

I do agree that the manner of some of the criticism in this post stings a little and some offers no real encouragement, but I also must admit that I feel some of its underlying concerns are correct. It's important that we as believers are honest with ourselves and open with others, never letting pride get in the way.

I do have a zeal for Christ and spreading the gospel in the entirety of its truth is very very important. We should strive to be witnesses to what we have seen, heard and beleived in (Christ and the Gospel) and we should strive to do so in a way that is pleasing to God. The book of Ephesians says to find out what is pleasing to God. Paul also desires in the benediction that whenever he opens his mouth, words may be given to him to make the mystery of the Gospel known.

I've decided to augment my remaining supply of dollar bills with the web address below. Its a very detailed gospel presentation that I put together several years ago. I'm going to re-letter my stamper with the URL and begin using this alone going forward. As always, I'm open to suggestions and criticism as long as its delivered with love and not arrogance. God Bless and have a happy Monday.

    why are we being rude?

because this idea is neither just tacky nor silly. It is pathetic. Yes, I was cynical and sarcastic. If I had wanted to be rude I would have quoted "answer a fool according to his folly".

We are not called to pique people's interest in Jesus. We are not called to vain scribblings on money. God being lowered to graffiti. Is this the best you can do?

I am sickened by this and I believe Christ would be too. Please read Acts chapters 3 and 4. The disciples being beat for their faith and praying not for the persecution to end or for some chintzy way to get the message out, but for boldness.

I wish those of you favoring this drivel could time travel to a small spit of beach in Auca land in the 1950's and see Elliot and Fleming and the others being pierced with spears while their wives and young children waited for them to return home, because they actually had courage to witness, and while these young men were gasping their last breaths you pipe up and say, "hey in our day we have come up with this great idea! Jesus is the answer and we stamp on dollar bills..."

or travel to china where Christians are tortured, burned, pay the ultimate price for their witness and share with them this brainstorm "Jesus is the answer!"

Acts 1:8 prophecies that when in receipt of the Holy Spirit one "shall" have power and one "shall" witness. There are no 'maybes' or 'hopefullys' here.
When I read ideas like the above I don't question your witnessing tactics; instead, I question your lack of power and wonder whether it may be due to an absence of the Holy Spirit.

There is a world out there dying as enemies of God. To them Jesus is not the answer neither is "God Good all the Time" (do you think that was printed up in the Sodom and gomorrah public library?)
They are the enemies of a Holy Creator and need to be told that.

    Go tell them.

Yes, I see the error of my ways. Can you forgive me?

It further occurs to me: We do not need to prosecute the war on terrorism any longer! All we need to do is pull out of Afghanistan. Only one remaining plane will be necessary, and its task will be to drop dollar bills with "Peace is the Answer" stamped on them. About ten million should suffice (and it will be cheaper than a hot war, too). Thousands, yea millions, of Taliban and Al-Qaeda supporters will see these bills. Maybe they won't lay down their arms right away, but we're just sowing seeds, right? All we're doing is piquing their interest in peace.

It cheapens the Gospel by reducing it to a nice, affirmative slogan.

If you want to see how Jesus did evangelism, read the story of the rich young ruler (Mark 10:17ff). In that short story, we see the content of the Gospel. Jesus points to God as the only true good there is (v. 18). He points to God's law as an absolute moral standard (v. 19). He convicts the rich young ruler of his sins, pointing his covetousness as proof that he falls short of God's standard (v. 21). He calls for the rich young ruler to forsake his earthly treasure and follow him (v. 21). After the rich young ruler has gone, he tells the disciples to trust God because it is him who enables sinners to enter the kingdom (v. 27).

I could probably glean more truth out of this doctrinally rich story, but that will suffice for now. But anything less than the above minimum is not a true gospel: God is holy and righteous. God expects obedience. Man is not obedient. He has personally offended a holy and righteous God and things will go very bad for him unless he seeks forgiveness through Christ.
