My home church has VBS next week on Noah's Ark. They are getting animals (2x2) from folks all over the area - sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens.

Afraid the building is going to SMELL like the Ark if they're not careful!

BTW, can anyone tell me WHY Noah took 2 cats on the Ark when he could have just let the suckers drown and we would have enjoyed life ever since?

Oops. Wrong thread for THAT question!! [IMG] [IMG]

    Bad, bad Dr Bob!

Let's see, Noah could have gotten a pair of dogs, guinea pigs and hamsters, if he came to our house. Of course he probably didn't want them fixed or all boys! :D

Diane, let me give you a word of warning about the VBS music. Whoever came up with the hand motions must have been an aerobics instructor! You get a workout! Especially the I EE I EE I song(probably not the correct title).

Good grief! It rained nearly 3.5 inches here in just 25 minutes, and the temps fell by 15 degrees. The wind gusts were between 70 and 80 mph! You should have seen the rain whipping off the back of the van...Woah, Noah! It keeps up, I'm gonna need an ark!

Dr. Bob, not to sound like a nervous Nellie, but do point out to the VBS planners about all those people in Fla. who are sick, dead and dying from touching animals at a petting zoo and not washing their hands well enough.

The childcare kids are gone but a nice boy who is visiting his aunt and uncle (across the street) for 2 weeks is here to play with Nick. It's about to storm so they're playing inside.

Tony, I'd love a good shower. Cindi hasn't given me the weather report yet this afternoon. Usually I get what she's gotten just an hour or so later. LOL I watch for her posts and then make plans accordingly.

We are having severe thunderstorms and they are expected to continue the rest of the week.

Our VBS is next week. Brent has five guests going with him, on the bus, so far...

That's GREAT Sue! I sure wish I could get the new kids on the corner interested. They're 'not into God' they told Nick. They may get 'into God' when the street empties the first day! A boy visiting across the street wants to go. He's very nice. He's here, visiting his aunt and uncle, from Tampa. I don't have enough room to transport them but may have the church van come.

Church bus! Don't you know Sue that you're supposed to take them all in your car and then back to your house to play after? That's the way it works here. I've had a car/houseful all week. T is getting tired of the kids(we have another spend the nighter) so I'm going to have to put the hiatus on having any more company after Dad gets home.

Diane, sorry about the weather report! We had a beautiful day until.....about 2:30 when a storm blew up and sat on top of us for about 2 hours. Then it blew away(to you maybe?) and the rest of the evening was quite nice.

I'm about tired now, but T just came in so I guess I should head off into the living room and make sure he's had enough to eat. Then I'm hitting the bed! It's been a very long day.

MK: My car only holds 5 people INCLUDING myself. That's why I love our bus ministry! [IMG]

Brent even rides the bus on Sunday because he likes to visit with his friends to, and from, church.

Diane: Two of the boys that are coming live on the corner and are Catholic. One of them has gone to church with Brent before.

We had the clouds and a light rain but the real rain missed my house. The kids played out til after 9:00 p.m. Nick found a cat up a tree and wanted me to call the Fire Department. LOL

    My car, also, Sue.

Well, I did very little today other than company and babysitting but I'm quite tired too. Think I'll head to bed also.

    Night all!

    Morning all:

Sue, I miss the bus ministry to a point. It is because of a bus ministry at Faith Baptist in Pekin, Illinois that my mother got saved and we grew up in church. After leaving the IFB movement (though we are still historic Fundamentalists though in the SBC) we have only seen one or two SBC churches that have a bus ministry at all. Our church has considered one because of churches like Franklin Road Baptist Church (Dr. Mike Norris) and Middle Tennessee Baptist Church (Dr. Tony Hutson) coming down 20 miles out of town and taking kids from our youth ministry. But, we're happy these kids are in church, whether they are in ours or theirs. Those kids getting saved and growing in the Lord is all that matters...God gives the increase and will send whom He wants us to have our way, especially if we're out visiting in the community and sharing Jesus Christ with them. [IMG]

It's a warm 70 degrees with light fog here. There are supposed to be showers this afternoon. There were some really heavy downpours yesterday, flooding our driveway and the house next doors back lawn (our front yard is attached to the side there) and the field behind us. The creek down the road rose about 2 feet and there were flash flood warnings. Some parts got over 8" of rain in just an hour.

Praying for you all....And, please, MAKE IT A GREAT DAY! [IMG]

    Good morning all:

Tony, I love the Bus Ministry and hubby and I were in it for many years.

The Bus Ministry at our church was instrumental in bringing myself, hubby, and all four of my children to the saving knowledge of the grace of our Lord.

We lived about five miles outside of town in a little village and the bus 'captain' would, relentlessly, visit us each Saturday to see if any of us were coming to church on Sunday.

Being unsaved, I hated to see that bus coming, and sometimes would not even answer the door!

One Saturday, I told him we would all come, just to 'shut him up'. We went, the kids rode the bus, and hubby and I drove. The rest is history...

Our weather seems to be a lot like yours, Tony. It is 70º right now heading for a high of 90º with scattered, severe, thunderstorms forecast for the next several days.

I can't go anyplace with my toe bandaged, and wearing toe sandals, when it is raining, so I have been stuck in the house most of the week.

    Cruising,
    §ue

Morning all, I'm feeding the sleepy boys so we can head up to church to decorate for VBS. I'll be glad when it's done. I hate having anything 'undone' with a time limit approaching.

Hope everyone has a lovely day. It's going to be hot here too. High of 88° but with afternoon storms so it should cool down. Right now it's pretty cloudy!

LOL Diane, I'm feeding myself so I can get ready for VBS. Can you say LATE!?

We're clouded up here this morning but the weather has been so variable that I'm not going to hazard a guess as to what the day will be like, except hot and HUMID! Good thing I have house cleaning planned for this PM.

    See ya later....

Boy Howdy. Another cool night in Wyoming (furnace kicked on again) as it hit 39F. High only about 65. My poor beans and peas don't have enough warm soil to even grow!

But it will be hot in a week and stay until Labor Day, so wish I could store the cool up now!

Trust all will have a blessed day. Sermon work and label/stamp the 700 newsletter from the wife's clinic. No elders meeting as the large Home School Convention in Denver (2000+) is going on and all my church families home school.

Well our room is finished but it doesn't look anything like I envisioned. I had to take 5 children and Rachel ended up with 7 with her. The kids made awful messes in another room and we spent quite a while cleaning THAT up! At least it's done!

    Sounds 'exciting', Diane!

Well, at last count today, there are now 38 tomato's on the vines. I sure wish there were more! My jalapeno's are nearly dead...don't know why, but they are turning yellow on the leaves and drooping like mad! The broccoli is probably going to be a loss this year, also. But, it looks like at least one head of lettuce is going to make it, as are the squash, if we're lucky. I put some of the stakes in the ground to hold the tomato vines up, but I still need to do another 10 plants. Oh, the Romaine lettuce is just about ready too!

It's a hot 92 here, but is starting to cool off. The clouds are building up again just like yesterday. I'm hoping that it will rain again so I don't have to use the county's water to water the garden. Got a notice the other day saying it contains too many chemicals, yet they consider it "safe"...ya, right!

well, summer has arrived in philly, and it's june, so that means mulberries on my walk, so thick you can't walk around them, and they need to be swept twice a day at least. soon they will start fermenting on the lawn, and it will smell like a winery. so bring on the heat, and the thunderstorms. then they'll all ripen and get knocked down and be done. beautiful shade from that tree the rest of the summer.

    still pecking in lower case.

Well it's still cloudy and down to 82° now but my radar doesn't show anything and Cindi is too busy to post. Think she said she's going to CLEAN. Something I need to do too!

Boy could I crawl in bed and sleep for days! I'm just so sleepy. I've been going to bed earlier and going back to bed after Ty arrives. The other kids don't come until 10:15 or later and only 3 days a week. You'd think I'd not be so sleepy! The heat and all the physical work .... not used to all this lifting, etc.

Thankful is quiet today! Wonder if she had a hard day at VBS!
