Those who have been struck with the arrow of love know that you not merely do the ten things your fiancée desires, but you try to please her in all matters within your ability to do so.

So too, under the new covenant we not only fulfill the Ten Commandments because we love Jesus, but we try to please and obey the Lord in all things, just as the man who is engaged to his fiancée.

As Christians we don't think, I cannot covet, because I don't want to go to Hell, and we do not desire other people's things because we have a sincere love from the Lord toward our neighbors and acquaintances. By keeping a strict account of the Ten Commandments we have again placed ourselves under the bondage of the Law. The Christians law is the law of love. The commandments of the new covenant is personified in the thirteen verses of I Corinthians chapter thirteen.

Romans 5:20 says, 'Moreover the Law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.' The Law came from God through Moses under the old covenant, while Grace came from God through Jesus Christ under the new and better covenant. [Hebrews 8:6]

Christians do not live under the Law but under Grace. [John 1:17]

Exactly what is the meaning of sabbath? Is it not "the seventh" for on the seventh day of creation God rested!

There is no scripture that says the first day of creation was Sunday. However, is the first day not the day that God said let there be light and there was light? Hence we call the first day of the week Sun-day!

Monday is usually associated with washing of clothes, and the second day God divided the waters. Last time I checked, water is what one uses to wash clothes? Dry-cleaning don't count!

Tuesday is the day that God divided the waters and brought forth dry land. It is the day that God planted the garden all over the dry land with all the vegitation, so we can call Tuesday, Veggie day! He probably planted the sea weed and marsh grasses too!

Wednesday is the day that God added the moon and stars for nighttime light on the earth. This is the day that the natural calendar was created, so we can all it Clock day! "Humpday" is a misnomer.

Thursday is Fish and bird day! (You Catholics may have had it right, eating fish on Friday. After all the fish only became available the day before)

Friday is the day that God populated the land with animals, insects, wormes, etc, and the day that God made Man in his own image, ending the day by declaring that all he had made was indeed very good! So we can call this PAY DAY!

Then came the next day when God rested from work and it is the seventh day which God called the Sabbath!

The story goes, YOU WORK YOUR FINGERS TO THE BONE FOR SIX DAYS AND REST FOR ONE DAY AND CALL THAT DAY THE SABBATH! Seems fitting that one should have a seven day cycle one of which he does nothing but rest. Now depending on which day your light comes on, that would be your start day, or "sun-day". So, it seems to be pretty COMMON, 'cause that's the way it is!

    Hey Again dianetavegia
No home schoolin. Our school is small enough so as the kids dont get lost in the crowd. As for the Cubs, i would have to say they are my favorite team. Did ya know God also enjoys a good baseball game. His very 1st words in the book He gave us are "in the big inning".

    Hi Yelsew
I suppose you can call any day your sabbath. Its a free country, but the sabbath(the one Jesus made)was kept by Jesus and from that time has been kept by the tribe of judah(jews). So we know exactly which day is Gods sabbath day.

    Hello Grace1998
    you wrote
The Bible teaches that we are saved by grace through faith. It is God's GIFT, and not our works that saves us (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Well, ya seem to leave off verse 10. Its pretty important.

EPH.2 [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.[10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto GOOD WORKS, which God hath before ordained that WE SHOULD WALK IN THEM.

Grace, a gift from God that no one deserves because we all have sinned and fallen short. But what are these “GOOD WORKS”that we are to”WALK IN”?

2 JOHN 1 [3] Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.[4] I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.[5] And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.[6] And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should
    walk in it.

Grace be to you. The above scripture will shed some light on what “GOOD WORKS” we are to “WALK IN”. Verse 6 its the 10 commandments. These are the GOOD WORKS that we must WALK IN.

PSALM 78 [1] Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.[2] I will open my mouthin a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:[3] Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.[4] We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the
generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.[5] For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:[6] That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:[7] That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:[8] And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.[9] The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.[10] They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;[11] And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.

We all know WHO opened HIS mouth in parables(verse 2) and WHO established a testimony(verse 5). That of course, no doubt about it, was Jesus Christ. Verse 7 explains why Jesus done this.
That they might set their hope in God, AND NOT FORGET THE WORKS OF GOD, but keep his commandments
But they kept not the covenant of God, and refused to “WALK IN” his law.

And Grace 1998,thats what has happened alright, which fulfills the scripture in the new testament which says “Many shall come in the name of Christ and decieve many”.

EXODUS 18 [20] And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

Laws, wherein they “MUST WALK” and the “WORK THEY MUST DO”. You will find these laws in Exodus 20.

JAMES 2 [17] Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.[18] Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.[19] Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.[20] But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

MATT.16 [27] For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

So ya see Grace1998, the WORD does say there are good works we must WALK IN as believers

I do not keep the Old Law as it was never delivered as a teaching for me as a Gentile. The Old Law was for those who lived at the time of the reception of the commandments at Sinai. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 5:1  ¶And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.
2  The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
3  The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
The Law was a binding agreement with the children of Israel until Christ came. The Bible says in Gal. 3: 24  Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25  But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
    The death of Christ on the cross ended the authority and power of the Old Law. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16  And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
The New Testatament is the better and abiding covenant. The Bible says in Mat. 26:28  For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. The Bible says in Hebrews 8:13 13  In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. The Bible says in Hebrews 9:1  ¶Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
2  For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
    3  And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;
    4  Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
5  And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.
6  Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.
7  But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:
    8  ¶The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:9  Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
10  Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
    11  But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13  For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
14  How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15  ¶And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Now you say "as believers," yet in your original post you stated "in order to be saved":

The Bible is clear that IN ORDER TO BE SAVED, it is NOT by works, but by grace through faith. Plain and simple. No verses ignored on my part to show this.

    Hi Frank

PSALM 78 [1] Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.[2] I will open my mouthin a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:[3] Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.[4] We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the

So Frank who do you think opened his mouth in parables and established a testimony so that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.Who do you think that was Frank?

Now you say "as believers," yet in your original post you stated "in order to be saved":

Well..Do ya think that those who do not believe are saved? There are many who say they believe and yet they have the spirit of unbelief.

1 PETER 4 [17] For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?[18] And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Well as we can see in the above scripture the righteous will be scarcley saved. What does it mean to be righteous?

DEUT.6 [25] And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.

Ok, thats as clear as it gets. So its “ALL” the commandments we must keep. Not just 9 out of the 10. I would also like to bring to attention a key point in the above scripture. “ if we observe to do “. Of course we know that no one but Jesus has kept the 10 commandments perfectly but we must observe to keep them. We all have fallen short and have sinned but by the grace of God and the blood of Christ the people that practice righteousness will be saved.

PSALM 119 [165] Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.[166] LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments.[167] My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.
[168] I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways are before thee.[169] Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word.[170] Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word.[171] My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.[172] My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.[173] Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.[174] I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.

for all thy commandments are righteousness

I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments

Like love and marriage. Kinda go together

People werent saved before Christ were they? Salvation is a word for saved isnt it?

PS-My soul hath kept thy testimonies. You also must keep the testimony of Christ which is a lot harder to keep than the 10 written in stone since
HE magnified the law and made it even harder to keep.

So now that we know who the righteous are, who are
    those that practice iniquity?

2 THES. 2 [5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?[6] And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.[7] For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.[8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:[9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,[10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

As we read the above NEW TESTAMENT scripture, we read that the mystery of iniquity was already at work at the time this was written. If you have a KJB, there is a footnote given for the word inquity. Its LAWLESSNESS. Many have come in the name of Christ saying we are not under the law of God. HIS 10 commandments. This scripture goes on to say these people have not recieved the love of the truth and will not be saved.

ISAIAH 30 [9] That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:[10] Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:[11] Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.[12] Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:[13] Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.[14] And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters' vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit.[15] For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

What was written of these people who practice lawlessness (iniquity) in 2Thes.2 was prophesied in Isaiah 30. As everyone knows the HOLY ONE of Israel is JESUS and HE says in the above scripture that a rebellious people would come that will not hear the law of the Lord, but they will speak smooth things. Well, it doesnt get any smoother than teaching people you will be saved by simply saying ”i believe”. What did Jesus say about being saved? “in returning and rest shall ye be saved”.

DEUT.30 [8] And THOU SHALT RETURN and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.
LEV.5 [17] And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.

Well, its your choice. You can return to the LORD and keep HIS 10 commandments or keep walking in sin, and bear your iniquity.

PSALM 89 [26] He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.[27] Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.[28] My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.[29] His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.[30] If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;[31] If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;[32] Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

Verses 26 to 29. Read em. Tell me who you think is being spoken off. Yup, its JESUS CHRIST. Do you believe what HE says?

MATT.7 [21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.[22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
[23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Well it seems that people can even cast out devils in the name(through the WORD) of the Lord and if your practicing iniquity...Well you can read it.

    IS THIS COVENANT HERE ?

HEBREWS 8 [6] But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.[7] For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.[8] For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:[9] Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.[10] For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their
mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:[11] And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.[12] For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.[13] In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

In Hebrews 8, the scripture says all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. You'll need not say to your neighbor or your brother “Know the Lord” because everyone at that time will “Know the Lord”. Ive heard many say this covenanant is already here. How could that possibly be? You do not have to look to far to know that everyone does not know the Lord. Keep in mind who Jesus said was our brother.

As you read verse 13 of Hebrews 8 you can plainly see the new covenant has not yet arrived. This scripture was written AFTER Christ had risen and it clearly says the old covenant is getting old and is ready to vanish. Nowhere does this scripture say that the old covenant has vanished.
Im getting old and ready to vanish also but im still kickin.

DEUT.30 [3] That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.[4] If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:[5] And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.[6] And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heartof thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.[7] And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.[8] And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.

There it is. Verse 6 says GOD will circumcise thine heart and you WILL keep HIS commandments. His laws will be written in our heart. But this comes after the gathering of HIS people as written in verses 4 and 5.

EZEK.11 [17] Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.[18] And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.[19] And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:[20] That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

Same thing said in EZEK.11. A new heart and a new spirit. But again, that will not happen until the people of God have been gathered and brought to the land of Israel (IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE).

Also i would like to point out something. Read verse 20 of EZEK.11 and verse 10 of HEBREWS 8. Can you, ME2 show me through scripture that this covenant has arrived?

The context of Psalms 78 is written to the subjects of david or the Jews as it were.
Second, there is no " mixing of passages in Hebrews and Matthew. The blood of Christ purchased the new covnenant spoken of by the writer of hebrews. The force of the action is in the perfect tense meaning one previously taken place.

    Downsville,

Heb 9:16 For where a testament [is], there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

Jesus Christ died and was resurrected.

Eph 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Now this would state that the covenant has been established on the day of the death of the testator and the beginning of the distribution of the inheritance.
yet this has not been expressed completely towards mankind in our linear timeline.

Some in their present life acknowledges this truth, thus beginning their understanding of the established covenant. yet do you see anyone walking on water or raising the dead today. no?, their still growing in christ. but they will eventually acheive this stature of the capabilitites that Jesus had while on the earth. He is the first "son of God". the firstfruit. future sons of God will resemble him and his capabilities.

when the last person receives the spirit of Christ, professes that their new spirit has been resurrected and can declare that Jesus is Lord because he has defeated death. (death abolished)
then the covenant between man and God will be completely established.

and the 10 commandments will never go away. It is an integral part of mans new spirit. it is a part of the eternal "Spirit of Christ".

The context of Psalms 78 is written to the subjects of david or the Jews as it were.

Are you saying that jewish believers in Christ must keep the commandments according to the word of Jesus but the gentiles need not
because .....well i keep hearing you guys say there to grevious(hard)and no one can keep them perfectly. Why do you think the jews are able to keep them and you are not. Do you also then believe there are 2 roads to the kingdom? The DAY OF BATTLE is mention in that scripture, look it up,read about that day. It has not yet arrived.

PS-remember into what tree WE are grafted
