"1. The word "tradition" simply means "truth." It has nothing to do with tradition passed down throughout the centuries as defined in the Catholic Encyclopedia"

You have to be kidding me. This is the lamest excuse for an arguement I have ever seen. he translators translated it to an English equivalent. But that English Equivalent does not mean what the dictionary says it means and only the reader can determine what it means. Especially if it doesn't match his theology. [IMG] [IMG] Do you submit to scripture DHK or do you have them submit to you. Examine yourself on this.

". Mormon do not hold the Bible as their final authority, do not hold to sola scriptura. Their final authority is the Book of Mormon. You are comparing apples with oranges. So what if a Mormon studies the Bible for 30 years. He is unsaved. He has not light. I know of a Muslim that memorized the entire New Testament. It doesn't get him any closer to Heaven, nor any closer to the truth."

Thank you for making my point even clearer. Their framework for what scripture means is wrong. Therefore, while they have revelation they obviously do not have ALL REVELATION. Worse yet, they have error that distorts their meaning of the revelation that they can hold in their hands, the Bible. So do you.

    Blessings

Well, that is a relief. I don't think I would fare well in DHK's courtroom, he is the judge, jury and prosecutor.

    Catholic. Story at 6. (Thes)

I believe in Born Again Catholics but tell me this:

Are they born again because they're Catholic or....
are they Catholic becaue they're born again or....
are they born again because they've chosen to believe
that Jesus rose from the dead and have experienced
this great work of grace within their lives..?

I'm born again and not Catholic..!

    P.S.
J.S.....You challenge me to become the next comic on the BB. [IMG]

I care not to dwell on this Thessalonian, and all who are reading. But for the sake of clarity let me say this one final word.

Posted in the very first thread of this forum is a Welcom thread by Clint, which all are expected to read: Here is one paragraph that Clint wrote:
One's denominational affiliation is asked for. In fact it asked for in two different places: "MY Religion," and "My Local Church." Also a statement of one's personal relation to Christ is asked for.
None of these were answered truthfully by Justified. Justified is a Catholic. You cannot discern that from the way tha he filled in the profile. In fact he admitted that he deliberately filled in the profile in such a vague way because as a Catholic he was refused admission the first time he applied.
I, personally, do not have a problem with him being here. That is not my decision to make. I am not an adminstrator or moderator. But I do detest dishonesty and deception. That is what I was disgusted with, even as I asked the question of a couple of Catholics at that time: "Is deception a Catholic virtue?" It is not Justified I have a probkem with personally; it is his deception. All I ask is that a person be honest and up front with others.

The other area where Justified crossed the line is when he began to attack to policies of the board. I pointed out to him that he was a guest here at a Baptist Board. He did not have rights as such. It was his privilege to be here and he should abide by the rules without complaining about them in public.

About that time, Kathryn, (another Catholic), whom I appreciate, gave an honest statement and said that it was a baptist board and had the right to admit whomever they desired.

If Justified still objects to what Kathryn and other Catholics have agreed to, then he should leave. Is that not reasonable. Otherwise quit complaining.

Hey Thes, why would I want to do that...I don't even know what it means
or how to apply it. [IMG] You're surely not implying that one must be Catholic
before qualifying for God's grace are you? Or worse yet, that God's grace
can only be shed on Catholics. Or even worse yet, that others cannot receive
God's Holy Spirit (thus 'born again') without being a Catholic. You could surely
tangle yourself into a web trying to support those fallacies considering those
promises were made to "whoever" long before Catholics evolved out of the
    earth.

    To QuoVadis,

Born again AND Catholic works just like Born again and Protestant or
Born Again and Unchurched like your's truly. How is it that we acquire
"Born Again" status again....I forgot !!

"You obviously haven't checked any commentaries or outside authorities on this have you? "

I certainly wouldn't limit the abuse of the English language based on preconcieved notions of what a verse "should mean " to you. And once again this proves my other point about the teachings you recieved from others quite well. The translator must have the correct tradition of scripture as well as the reader and interpruter for all the planets to be aligned correctly in the universe and for one to have it right with the Bible. That is why The New World Translation of the JW's and the new Gender neutered bibles that are coming out that call God he/she aren't worth a plug nickle. That is why Martin Luther inserted alone next to faith in Romans 3:28. And that is why some translators insert the word teachings in 2 Thes 2:15 rather than traditions even though the greek word for teachings is didache while the word in the greek in 2 Thes 2:15 is paradosis - traditions. Quit while your behind.

Well okay then I guess he should be dubbed a naughty boy and have the back of his hands patted with a paint stirring stick. If the management wants to remove him that is there business. As for honesty, when are you going to start giving Catholicism a fair shake (i.e. make the effort to truthfully represent it even if you don't agree with it)?

[IMG] Hi dianetavegia, You are so right. For St. Paul tell us in 1 Thessalonians 2:3-4 "Our appeal to you is not based on error or impure motives, nor do we try to trick anyone." "Instead, we always speak as God wants us to,..with the Good News*."
*"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."*

    thanks [IMG]

Daveth, your short personal statement is "Jesus is Lord". Well, there is nothing personal about this statement, it isn't sufficent. Why don't you admit it, you were trying to deceive us. Are you even a Christian? Is deceiving one of your virtues? I think I should report you to the moderators and let them deal with you.

[IMG] Hi Justified Saint , well thank you, however I do like your, Short personal statement of faith regarding Jesus Christ : “praise the Lord“! Psalm 95:2-3
(NIV). "Praise the LORD! Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!” And St. Paul said. "No man can say Jesus is Lord but by the Holy Ghost." (1 Cor. 12:3).

John 3:14 "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Let's keep it a secret though, I don't want to be declared a heretic. :(
