Why would the Pope kiss the Quran?

    some say the picture is a fake. But if it wasn't then he was wrong (IMHO).
    On the other hand I do have a lot of sympathy with Jehovahs Witnesses - many of them went to the concentration camps in Germany rather then fight. They were German heros. They are anti-catholic - but no ones perfect.

    lol - it did say he kissed the Koran. You should have read your own link before posting.

    As I say, no one is perfect, and in retrospect I beleive the pope was incorrect (if he did kiss the koran). So what? No Catholic on planet earth thinks a pope can't make a mistake. If some big cheese presentated me with some big book and it was my job to please crouds I might kiss the book as well.

    Are you a Muslim hater? If not, then don't claim that all Muslims hate Christians, even though we do not worship the same God. Nowhere does it say hate has to be involved. Your statement, though WAS hateful.

    I think he means respect for his hosts.
    There are 1 million Catholics in Iraq and this "kissing" event is meant to have occured in Iraq (although I thought it was Syria but whatever).
    I would not think it wrong if the pope kissed my sons Harry Potter novels. We all know the pope does not believe the Koran or say it is "the truth" as he is quite openly a Catholic. [​IMG]

    Why respect a bunch of lies? I personally would run the Koran over with my lawnmower and then put all the little peices in my cats litter box. :eek:

    IMO the pope (small p) is set to kiss the holy book of every religion - one world government. He will be the driving force; mark my word.

    Maybe he wasn't kissing the book, perhaps he was licking it! Why would he lick a book? The world may never know...Looks like the guy next to him was saying "uhhh, can you please stop licking my book, It was bad enough when you licked the dinner plates..."

    Grant, you've been pretty cranky today - the joke was lighthearted at most. There's nothing wrong with making an innocent joke about someone licking a book. Havent you ever licked a book before?!?! Especially a nice green one?

    BONKERS!!!!

    As I mentioned before, our priest had a great homily in which he condemned the current spirit of relativism. As he said "If the Catholic Faith isn't truth, WHY BOTHER BEING CATHOLIC?"

    Couldn't agree more. And if it is truth, then why honor the demon moon god of the Muslims?

    First of all the picture doesn't show him kissing anything. You see a man who unfortunately has stood slightly stooped over for years holding a book in front of him. Secondly the book looks like a lectionary to me.
